I've had coffee here a couple of times. Their americano (straight, no sugar/milk) is strong, delicious and very cheap. They also have frozen varieties like Mocca that are also good. Next door you can find a place that specializes in selling equally cheap churros. For a great coffee-break, combine the two and enjoy them while sitting on a bench in the Coyoacan main plaza just a block up the way. Total damage less than 30 pesos.

In or near Coyoacan stop at Cafe El Jarocho. There are just a few seats and benches but they roast their own coffee and serve delicious pastries (or run across the street to the street vendor if yo want something different.). We were anxious for a good morning coffee and found it!

A group of us from all over Mexico City were meeting up for a day of touring in Coyoacan. The Cafe Jarocho was just the ticket. No need to hold a table while staring down the wait staff. Instead get a coffee and perhaps a torta and sit on a park bench as the time and the world passes by. The cafe oozes character and local charm. A great jump off for the Frida Kahlo Museum,

Popular spot for tourists and some locals, but we weren't impressed. Ordered cappuccinos and they were bland- could barely taste the espresso. If you are a coffee fiend, head over to Cafe Negro in Coyoacan instead.

We stopped here for a coffee and donut after the Frida Kahlo museum. The coffee was rich and the donut was wonderful. Very cheap too.
