The staff seemed to be afraid to speak in English. Served portions especially of the main course seemed on the smaller side. Served bread was burned.

We were so happy with this choice! We made a reservation about 2 weeks in advance after seeing it on Ugly Delicious. Everything was incredible. We split the mozzarella pesto squash, braised pork rib ravioli, duck with sweet potato purée, and apple/chocolate chip ice cream/Carmel dessert. We were delightfully satisfied. The price fit the quality and the drinks were a perfect addition to our meal. Would definitely come back again and again!

I previously read and heard about the Maximo Bistrot in Colonia Roma, as innovating, delicious and great service. And after my visit I can confirm they lived through the expectations. Service is fast and corteous. But both the restaurant and the service makes you feel like you are in the dining room of your best friend’s house, and that he is the Cheff. Every plate is perfectly mounted and makes you crave tomtaste it. Once you do it, it is just flavorful and exquisite in texture. I tried the 4 course mesl, and every plate was just as good as it gets. I recommend the tuna tartar, and the seared white fish. Also, the Mezcalina is a interesting and perfect cocktail to start with. I look forward in coming back real soon.

Walked in on a Saturday night with no reservation. Waited two hours at the bar for a table. So glad we did. Every dish was fresh, inventive, and delicious. Tuna tartar and lamb meatballs were outstanding. Service was friendly. Mexican red wine is a must.

Great food + bad service = a bad experience. This summarizes what has happened to this restaurant. If you want to taste delicious, freshly prepared and graciusly designed dishes at La Roma zone in Mexico City, you are in the right place.

But be prepared to encounter an understaffed business with somewhat overcrowded spaces. This leads to outright bad service, where waiters are not able to tend to customers satisfactorily and where staff are running all over the place and, many times, quite close to where you are seating (thank god nobody spilled a soup on our coats).

If you want to taste top notch, delicious Mexican food in a contemporary setting AND be treated superbly well, think twice before you go to Maximo Bistrot. Instead, go to Blanco Colima (also at La Roma zone), Raíz or the great Quintonil restaurant (in Polanco).
