“Very nice place”

Reviewed 21 May 2017

Is less popular than the valenciana one, but is totally amazing. If you are looking for a better experience with much less walking and stairs, this is the place. The tour guys are very well prepared and go deeper in the origins of mining i this area of Mexico. greta bar where you can refresh and indulge your self.

A pretty good experience, to learn about mining activities of the region, and learning some good stories, about the legends of the city

The place is very charming and you can take great photos. The mine is just a cave you go down 60+ steps. Then you have a small explanation of how things work. You'll be out in less than an hour.

Tour was really short, had to pay extra to use restroom and the guide asked for tips after. Not much info at all, the 'mine' is a few stairs down and not much more. The hacienda is pretty, and the bar looks really cool but you can't have a beer or anything. Just a photo op. I wouldn't recommend it, honestly. I love mines and caves and rocks and this tour was the worst one I've been on. If you do want to go, I was concerned about feeling claustrophobic in the hot humid climate going down the mine and it was fine. Climb up was mild as well.

We all know Guanajuato for its rocky streets, its participation in Mexico's Independence, Don Quijote and the Cervantino; yet what many might not know is that Guanajuato is/was also famous for its mines.
This small museum/mine proved a brief introduction into the mining industry that still operates in Guanajuato (thought, it is not as big as it used to be). You can able walk into the inside of a mine and get to feel the changes of temperature and how claustrophobic miners might get.
I do recommend it, if only just to get to know about this other side of Guanajuato that is sometimes ignored.
