We usually stay here in November but wanted to try June the off season (6-9 thru 6-16). Check in went smooth and we upgraded to ocean view room for 285 peso @ night. Room 1410 had a great view. Being off season the hotel was like a ghost town, maybe 5 or 6 rooms rented. The restaurant was closed, they were in the process of putting on a new roof, and should be open by the end of June, but still served food on the paved patio area. Service was outstanding, and the location on Playa La Ropa is the best. See you in November....

Room tip: Ocean view are the best

Mrs. B and I have been staying here for ten tears and have never been disappointed. The entire staff is warm and friendly, always helpful, always working. Keep in mind when you don't see many reviews, that this hotel is visited by mostly Mexican Citizens who do not use Tripadvisor often. That being said we run into the same people each year, and, now we can communicate better with our new found friends. All the employees speak English, so, no communication problems.
The hotel is spotless, well maintained, and that includes the fantastic rooms. When you step outside your room one of the three pools are steps away. The beautiful beach (La Ropa) is about 20 feet from your chair. There are plenty of beach chairs that are very comfortable.
The restaurant, Dona Prudentia, is excellent so we rarely went out to other places in our two weeks at Villa. Alcoholic drinks are included and they don't skimp on the liquor. Remember to tip the servers as a tip (Propino) is not included. We actually saw people order the included breakfast and just walk away without tipping. Terrible.
We are already making our plans to return to this gem next year.

Room tip: Since you spend so little time in your room, any room is good.

This is a great no frills hotel. We had a nice room overlooking th pools. Th e staff is friendly. The food is just average...recommend for comfortable room, rain shower, and cleanliness. I would stay again.

A normal size room with two full beds. Working A/C. Flat-screen TV (that we never turned on). RIGHT ON THE BEACH. Very friendly staff.
Firm mattresses (some people may say that they are too hard but we loved them - no back pain in the morning).
You can take taxi if you want to go to the city center or you can walk (20 - 25 minutes walk).
Clean beach and low waves.
Pretty good food in the restaurant.

Hotel Mexicana is a nice clean no frills hotel. The drinks in the bar are just ok, but the package comes with breakfast. You can order off the menu and there is plenty of variety. The beach here is fantastic!

We would have liked it better if the rooms had refrigerators.

All in all Villa Mexicana is a good value.
