We went on a time share and this place need needs a lot of modernization. Our one bedroom room was a terrible yellow, cupboards same colour and swore they were twenty years old. The AC could not get turned off as such would think we were back home. The first night we had supper in the main dining room which also happened to be Mexican Fiesta night, if never been go if you have you have seen it before and the buffet was not all that great either $350 peso's each. On the positive side staff are ALL friendly and they are starting renovations.

Room Tip: There is a private pool hidden in the corner, laundry go up the street less than half price and they do it,

was not aware the this resort was very family orientated, many children active from 7:30 am to 10 pm. once acclimatized to the constant activity , the children were entertaining .
But the huge main cafetiere.was extremely noisy, till closing each night . I was amazed how the
servers were so cool and organized. all the other restaurants were great. This was the first time at an all-inclusive resort, always concerned about uncooked food sitting around for may hours.

Room Tip: in the Moro beach tower hotel . the bathroom tubs and showers need more modern pluming .. 21 st floor one -bedroom with on-suite.

My husband and I just spent a week in heaven. Mazatlan is a beautiful little city on Mexico's west coast. Lots to do, lots to see, amazingly affordable with amazing weather.
We took advantage of some of the inexpensive tour opportunities and really enjoyed the Hauna Coa canopy adventure complete with zip-lining and tequila distillery tour and tasting. The guides were friendly, well informed and helpful. So much fun. Our tour to Deer Island with sailing, snorkeling, kayaking, and banana boat rides as well as a beach-side lunch and open bar was a day well spent. We also did a day trip to Durango, traveling through the beautiful Sierra Madres to the lovely inland town where many Hollywood westerns were filmed, the home of the legendary Pancho Villa (museum toured), and the terrific restaurant El Esquilon where we enjoyed a great meal and the unique and rich ambiance of the restaurant. Many dining rooms, each with it's own architecture and decoration reflecting the history of the Spanish interaction with the country and its inhabitants.
We stayed at the El Cid El Moro Beach Hotel and were more than pleased with our 1 bedroom suite. Plenty of room for 4 travelers with a fully equipped kitchen, and 2 full baths with a spacious living area and large bedroom with 2 queen-sized beds all surrounded by large windows and a balcony overlooking, on one side, the beautiful courtyard and swimming poon, and on the other, a sparkling clean beach on the Pacific Ocean. The staff was friendly, courteous and eager to help.
We opted for all-inclusive and the multiple restaurants featured good food with excellent service. The drinks at the swim-up bars were often watered down (I didn't really mind this because drunkenness and swimming is not a good mix,) but the drinks in the bars and restaurant were not and I enjoyed many new tropical cocktails.
El Pergola, a buffet restaurant attached to the sister-hotel La Castilla, featured enjoyable, and on some evenings, great music and dance shows 6 nights a week and we often had dinner on the beach front patio of La Concha (my favorite restaurant) and dessert and drinks at El Pergola while enjoying the show. We had booked most of our tour online before we left home but found that if we had waited to book through El Cid we could have saved some money.
From our hotel in the Zona Dorado, we could inexpensively explore the city by taking bus rides (10 pesos/person, less than 75cents) or open air cars called pulmonia ($5 to farthest point in Mazatlan) to central areas and walk. The hike to the Faro lighthouse was a worthwhile challenge (do it at the coolest point of the day and take plenty of water.) The Malecon oceanside walkway was beautiful and clean with lovely and interesting sculpture along the way, all related to the area's history. The old town features the beautiful archdiocesan cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (where we attended mass on the great feast of Pentecost) and a large, interesting, affordable marketplace.
So many wonderful memories were made at our stay at El Cid El Moro. Looking forward to spending some time on the east coast of Mexico in the near future, in one of El Cid's resort there

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room on the pacific side. You'll have a balcony from which the view is great, as is the breeze from the ocean.

We have been timeshare owners at El CID for 8 years, and go back every year during the winter months. This past year some health concerns kept us home at that time, but we were finally able to get there in April. Everyone treated us like long- lost family. Rosy, the concierge, stayed late just to make sure our check-in went smoothly. There were flowers and a welcome note from the sales manager Rui waiting in our room. We were met with smiling faces and hugs from staff members we have become friends with over the years. We truly felt like we were "back home"!

There are some exceptional waiters, Félix, Tomas, Angel, Martin, Jesus, Ignacio just to name a few. These guys remember your favorite drinks, whether at meals or around the pool, and are good about checking back often to make sure our needs/wants sere being met.

There are a lot of improvements being done around the hotel, and in the city as well. When money is put back into these types of projects it tells me that owners care about their guests. The internet connections are much improved from last year.

All in all it was a great experience and we look forward to coming back next year!

Room Tip: Corner rooms have great views

We stayed at the el Moro for 2 weeks. The rooms were amazing (1 bedroom suite). Maid service was good. Pool /beach service was sketchy depending on who waited on you. Ramon was awesome! If you didn't go to the pool or beach BEFORE 6 am you couldn't get chairs or palapas. And the hotel rules strictly say that you can't "save" Chairs. We prefer the beach but it's a small roped off area for so many people. And honestly we are there for the beach, and spend very little time in the room, so will choose a different hotel next time based on that alone.
