Family friendly. Breakfast was actually pretty good. Small pool and slow elevators in an older hotel. Ok views and kitchenette made the trip tolerable. Motorcycle week did not. Comfortable but very average. I have to agree location was good but noisy.

Been coming here since 1998, went down hill a few years back, this year everything was cleaner, and working, a lot of Motels are upgrading all along the Golden zone, that is why we bought here many years back Location, location, location right smack dab in the middle of everything! we never eat here to many better places on the golden zone. and close to casino and stores. Not very excited about what is going on on parts of the beach, Dairy Queen is now gone, making way for 2 Gigantic high rise condos 28 stories high. But Royal Villas is great place to stay has the Mexican feel like Mazatlan should feel, not like Miami Beach or 5th ave in New York city like they are trying to do.

Room tip: if you want a small room get it on the south side of building more sun!

We book a few extra days to do a direct flight. The hotel was very accommodating. They moved us to a junior suite with a full kitchen. Everyone is friendly and helps in any way they can. There is a small bar to the left of check in. You need to order everything and sign for it. A little different. We would order a shrimp cocktail and after it comes you out hen order something else ie burger and fries. Breakfast is served close to the pool. Lunch and dinner in the only formal restaurant. It’s on the left when you walk in. You need to make a reservations for both lunch and supper. Very nice meals. I have stayed at different resorts. This is smaller but more interactive. Way to go.

Royal Villas is conveniently located in the golden zone. Many options for restaurants are nearby. The bus/taxis/pulmonia's are right out on the street to take you anywhere you want to go. We had a junior suite. It is one large room. We had a king and a double in our room. Not all jr suites have this configuration, some have just a king or two doubles. The kitchenette area was excellent. We have a microwave, basket style coffee maker, toaster and blender. There was a larger bar sized fridge and a 2 burner stovetop. There was new nonstick frying pans. There were dishes and cutlery for 4. Coffee filters were provided but nothing else. All in all very well equipped. The beds were very comfortable with decent pillows BUT they did not have fitted sheets so the sheets would not stay in place. This needs addressing by mgmt. Balcony was a decent size with 2 chairs and small end table. Cleaning staff did not clean the balcony and pigeon droppings at all during the 2 weeks. The pool is heated and the lounge chairs were very comfortable with good cushions. No need to run down at the crack of dawn to get a chair and umbrella unless you wanted to be along the rail facing the ocean. Even at 11 am or later, there were chairs and umbrellas available. All in all a great place to stay. Our suite faced north and there was noise from GUS GUS across the road.

Excellent service, clean rooms and ocean view from all rooms. They are constantly cleaning something all day long. Heated pool which makes it nice on an overcast day. Food there and in Mazatlan is excellent. Very friendly people and we never felt unsafe.
