“Nothing Else Compares on the Costera”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 December 2011

X-Mas New Year 2010-2011 2 weeks and last week of Februray 1st week of March 2011; 4 weeks spent last year bring our total visits to the Emporio Acapulco for us to 7 visits.
We've now booked once again for another 2 weeks on January 4 for 2 weeks and again plan for another 2 week stay in late February.
Whay else can I say that I havent in my previous reviews except that the Emporio only gets BETTER!
Hotel Impressive in design, best and largest ocean front property with Cabanas and a bar on the beach, room clean well appointed and mattresses great for my bad back, bed turn down every night, all staff from "Room Manager" Carlos Leone, Enrique Dining Room floor manager, to server extraordinare "Pablo" ,housekeeping staff and so on are immpecable, attentive, professional, efficient and happy. Back grounds lush treed with birds turtle pond and 3 pools always with poolside seating available, location great hustle & bustle of the Costera out front Garden Paradise in the back.
Food is very good and certainly the best of all hotels in the Golden Zone from the Main Dining ro0m Condimento both buffet and Ala Carte to the poolside restaurant/snack bar "their Burgers are a must try" They also have a luxe beach front Fusion relstaurant albeit beautiful the food isnt my favourite.
Cosnstantly improving now with poolside cushioned and draped mattressed Cabanas. Complimentary coffee "Beautiful silver and gold coffee urns" and pastries every morning on each floor.
I missed my X-mas tree and Christmas celebration at home so this year its early January. I must say that the Fireworks on New Years eve over Acapulco Bay are the most spectacular Ive ever wittnessed. Also large beach front parties, at a reasonable price, available for guest and non guest alike. Nice higher class affairs. I however settled for Firewoks and a Romantic meal on the balconey with its 180 degree view.
Ive stayed at other "comparable star rated" hotels on the Costera and take my word for it Nothing Else Compares! Likewise weve visited and viewed all other hotels and again none compare. Im amazed that others such as the Crowne Plaza are even gouped together "star rated" with the Emporio? They are fine but not in the same league as the Emporio in all respects.
Given the bad press on Acapulco violence we've never encountered even an arguement happen let alone physical violence and I travel the inner city exstensively usually during the day/early evening.
Like any other major city in a foreign country common sense should prevail as to when and where you go especially if your a Clubber/Late Night reveller.
The Mexican people are respectful, family orientated, and very very Happy.
As for the beach hawkers, many arey oung kids, they always respect a No and quite frankly show the industrious side of the peoples and their culture. Buy something and just be happy most items are inexpensive and help support the kids.
The Old Town is a great area to explore and the Zocolo is relaxing in the day and bustling and safe in the evening. Also some very good Restaurants in the Zocolo and adjoining streets. Great evening fish & seafood lunch & dinners
The hotel and grounds are clean in fact impecable.
To sum it up go to the Emporio you wont regret it and the peoples of Acapulco will make u feel secure and happy.
Counting down the days until Im back at my home away from home.

I planned for months for our honeymoon, and finally got exhausted with it and let a travel agent book our trip. Mistake. I finally decided on Acapluco b/c of its old history and EVERYbody always goes to the Carribean! Anyway, I loved Acapluco, but the Emporio not so much. It was an old hotel that needed updating. Our experenice wasn't horrible but I expected the hotel to be much nicer, and there was a lack there of. Also, Our travel agent had supposedly booked us ALL-Inclusive.. not so. We got to the Emporio to find out they don't do All-inclusive. Their package is semi-inclusive. Which means you can only eat at 1 reasturante and you can only have certain beers, and liquiors, none of which we really liked! I was dissapointed but we made the best of it! The beach was nice, but their were a lot of people trying to sell you stuff! And the beach sand is not power sand it is small little pebbles. The hotel is located downtown, and the view of the mountains that run off into the beach is AWESOME! Loved the trip, but wish the hotel would have been nicer, and more luxurious for the price that we paid!

I booked this hotel for 10 nights from 1-10 Feb 2011. Emporio Acapulco Hotel is located in a busy area in Acapulco. There are a lot of shops and restaurant outside the hotel, just you have to cross the street. My room was in the fourth floor. The room view is very nice and wonderful. It is medium size room. There is a big refrigerator, and nice dining table. The private hotel beach is beautiful, large, and clean. But, private beach is extended to public beach with a lot of noise. But, it is a nice noisy. Swimming pools are very nice. There are two swimming pools with large area to stay. One swimming pool is especial for adult. The other pool is for children. Both swimming pools are very clean with nice services. There are of things that you can do during the day. In the evening, there are a various activities outside the hotel.
The staffs are very friendly, especial the reception staffs, swimming pool staffs, and internet staff. Don't miss to see colorful parrots beside the pools.
I have to say that It is very nice hotel, and nice trip.

My partner and I had booked a 2 night stay and a diving experience through the hotel emporio web site; However, I had to ring 4 times the reservation center to have a confirmation of the booking and every time I had to stay on line for 20 minutes before getting an answer whether or not we would be accommodated. We had furthermore to provide a huge amount of documents via mail: proof for credit card, bank statement (!!), passport copy. in the end we had our confirmation of the accomodation and of the additional service and our credit card has been charged with the total cost immediately.
When we arrived at the Hotel on Friday night we asked the receptionist for details on the following day activity; he didn't know anything; The following day we've spent the whole morning waiting in the Hotel's lobby for the activity representative to come at the hotel for the activity planned, but no-one showed up. We've tried to contact the call center - waiting 23 minutes listening to music before the line was cut without having the possibility to get an answer. Then we asked the receptionist to check out what happened, as having booked it through the website related to the Hotel we expected to be at least helped; Nobody in the hotel seemed to have ever seen such a kind of reservation and not even know how to manage our request. Just one very nice person after various calls, contacted someone else who seemed to be the local representative of Hotel Emporium partner company for such activities, confirming that our names were listed and that she would have contacted us in order to plan the activity for the following day. Once again, no-one contacted us, nobody showed up and also on Sunday we waited for hours and could not have our diving activity, for which - I have to say that again - we already paid.
the personnel at the reception was totally vague, the operator at the call center were just able to put us waiting and in the end we lose our money as the credit card was charged in advance, we wasted our time waiting and we had not the service we paid for.
That's really unfortunate because the place is really nice (even if at 18.00 on Saturday the room was not yet done and towels not changed...) and could have been a lovely weekend, but the poor service provided and the rudeness and vaguity of the staff spoiled our enjoyment.

I've vacationed in Acapulco since I was a small kid. Last time I went was 5 years ago and I was pleasently suprised to see that this hotel, which used to be a different brand, has been upkept so good. Their website was offering excellent rates if you booked 60 days in advance. All rooms face the bay, which eliminates complaints about noise because the Costera (main street) can be pretty loud. The hotel is located right in the middle of the bay, with easy access to all attractions. The rooms are large, spacious, and very clean. We spent 4 glorious days basking in the sun at the adults-only infinity pool. The pool side service was excellent, the prices pretty reasonable and our waiter, Marcos, so attentive and kind. If you rent an oceanfront hut you get your rental fee as credit for food & beverage service. The only thing is that the beach vendors are somehow annoying, but hey, that's part of the identity of Acapulco. We saw no problems whatsoever, the city feels safe and there were plenty of european tourists, not so many americans. While English was not so widely spoken, that adds charm to the trip, after all, it's a different country and you want to experience something different. The VIPS restaurant located just accross the street came in handy for a late night bite. We'll definitely be back, and will recommend the hotel to anyone !!
