This place is the worst when it comes to stress free vacation. My family And I got our cloths, electronics and our money Robbed! They claim to have 24 hour cameras and security but this is a lie! The manager was no where to be found and they did not want to show the footage to us. This whole place is crooked and is not safe. The homes smell of old sewage water and doors don’t always lock. The windows were broken and we had no choice but to get bitten by mosquitoes. This is the worst experience I ever had and will highly recommend to anyone to not stay here!

Dear guest, we noticed various reviews have been done from other guests of your party of 24.
Our first mission is the safety of our guests. Upon arrival to Quintas Papagayo; we have a security gate entrance and exit, 24 external cameras, and security guards walking thru out the property. Chalet “12” in question has three cameras with different views, one in front, one in the back and one on the side.

The front office was notified of the incident at approximately 10 pm on Saturday July 28, steps were taken immediately; the police was called in, our Housekeeping department and external security was called and questioned. Our internal security department at 11:00pm began reviewed the footage of the tapes, and at 5AM an additional independent security arrived to double check the videos of all cameras focusing on the 3 recordings from 1pm thru 10pm the day in question. Between both security’s teams, video recording was reviewed for a total of 16 hours.

NO INCIDENT OF THEFT REPORTED.
Throughout all units doors lock automatic; guest can unlock & leave the door unlocked by using their key, windows throughout the unit are in good condition and not broken and all screens in place. On Saturday the day in question the client requested NO room service, they left at approximately 1pm per video footage with certain amount of luggage, to return at 10 pm with fewer items.

It was implied by “Ana/Brian O” Party; twice the evening of the 27th and the following day at check out, that monetary compensation should be given, also requested copies of the video, security showed one of your guests that cameras indeed are placed pointing at Chalet 12; for the protection and privacy of other guests we are not allowed to show recorded video or release copies of them.

In response to “hector a” and “crystal a” opinion, in reference to Chalet “Hain” The maintenance Department entered and cleared all drains throughout the unit and housekeeping left a can of Lysol on the table, since they were unable to detect a smell. This Chalet has not been restored; half of the units have been completed, we apologize for any inconvenience you might have had.
Every incident reported, is investigated and followed thru; Detail copies of the videos and reports are in hands of our lawyers, we welcome your legal counsel.

It’s inconceivable that TripAdvisor would publicize four comments, by the same party, of the same incident, in this magnitude without first giving the property owner heads up on the claim; we request that TripAdvisor monitor this situation.

We stayed in Quintas Papagayo on July 27th through the July 29th. When we arrived we were greeted by a security guard. We got to Hains and my family arrived before we did. We arrived and as soon as we walked into Hains we caught a weird smell when we walked upstairs. My sister mentioned it was the bathroom, it smelled like something was wrong with the pipes. They asked to be moved but they were all booked. The house was dated and needed to be renovated. The next day Saturday, we had breakfast at the hotel restaurant which was good. We had a big party so service was lagged. Before we had breakfast we let the front desk attendant know that there was a smell coming from the upstairs bathroom and if we could be moved. He said no but I’ll send someone to see what they could do. He asked if it was okay if they entered when we were present or not present. We said it didn’t matter we needed the smell to go away. While we were having breakfast someone came in to spray, as we knew because when we walked in there was a liquid left in the dinning table. We didn’t think anything of it. Around 1pm the whole family left, which there was 23 total staying amongst all four houses. We came back around 930-10pm in separate vehicles, others arrived before we did. As we were arriving we received a call from one of my sisters in law that they had been robbed. Alarmed, we raced to house 12 and they robbed an Apple Mac Book Air laptop, brand new, an IPhone that was left on a charger, an IPad and TWO WOMANS SUITCASES. They even tried on some shoes because the shoelaces were left untied, they didn’t fit so they did not take them. We went to the office and let them know what happened the attendant Hector said they had to follow a protocol and not to call the police. He said he is trying to contact his manager but it’s Saturday night and they are not answering. He said someone who has access to the cameras will be there by 11pm. It was 10pm or so when we spoke to him. He said to leave him alone because he needed to do his job. We obliged peacefully and went back to the house. The police showed up around 11pm and we gave them our side of the story. At 11pm we were allowed briefly to see the camera angles. The police said that if the security found anything in the cameras to call them. The gentleman in charge of viewing the cameras said he would review and let us know. At this point we felt helpless. We went back and slept for the night as we felt our stay for the weekend was ruined by these events. When we woke up In the morning there was another gentleman who basically said they reviewed the camera footage twice and nothing was found. We asked for a copy of the footage so we may look st it ourselves. They said they would get confirmation from the manager. They did not allow us to have access to the footage. We feel that this was a robbery that was done by one or some of the employees that were their on Saturday. Only because they were not able to find anyone entering or exiting the house with all of these items. We feel that someone would have had to hide this very well. We asked to at least have part of our stay reimbursed but they denied it. We feel this is unfair and would not want this to happen to anyone else. This was the worst experience anyone would have to go through and we would not want to wish on anyone else. Please do not stay here. This is not the first time this has happened.

My family and I reserved four houses this past weekend at this so called hotel and were robbed. During an excursion we took on Saturday someone broke into two of our houses and stole various items including the following: two suitcases full of women's clothing, money, a laptop, tablet and a phone. Upon discovering the robbery we immediately contacted the front desk and were informed they could not call police due to having to follow a "protocol". They did not contact the police for two hours. Once the police arrived the staff informed them they could not access the cameras due to the fact that the only staff member who could access them was not going to arrive until later but they would have the videos available the next morning. We went to the main office the following morning and were informed by staff that they did not see anyone in the cameras. They then proceeded to ask us if we had MISPLACED the items and insinuated we had made up the ordeal. We brought up the fact that the maids had been in the room (evident by the made beds) and they informed us "she's trustworthy and wouldn't steal". However, it's very suspicious that the only suitcases that were stolen had women's clothing. The staff refused to reimburse us our money or take any action to make amends for the incident. This led us to believe the staff was involved in the robbery. We have yet to hear back from the hotel manager or any of the individuals involved in running this horrible place. We will be taking legal action moving forward but wanted to warn all others to STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!

A great hotel built 1947 with spacious stylish original mid-century modern villas and ocean view rooms. The grounds are serene and quiet, and the location is right on the beach (although also right on highway 1, so road noise is audible in villas closer to the road, but nowhere near problematic). The swimming pool and hot tub are well hidden away and are both large and very enjoyable with beach chairs and plenty of space around. The original villas are simply fantastic with floor-to-ceiling windows, full kitchen, spacious airy bedroom, modern bathroom, fireplace, and private driveway and courtyard. The cooling is via ceiling fans only (no AC), but it was plenty sufficient for us during July stay. The security is visible, and we felt very safe. Access to the grounds is controlled 24 hours. OSHO RESTAURANTE on site is traditional Mexican and delicious, highly recommended. The front desk staff at check-in could have been a little friendlier, but not any big issues for us overall. On check-out everything was great and cleaning staff was not intrusive and very friendly. Simply a great stay!

Room Tip: Villa: 1 bed, kitchen, living room & patio. Fantastic & stylish. I recommend away from highway closer to the ocean and quieter.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review. At the moment our only rooms that have A/C are our studios, they are our most popular rooms.

They provided us with a small suite steps from the Beach. We will be making plans soon to return. It is a few minutes from downtown but worth the drive to a serene & quiet place to relax. We had the whole pool to ourselves.
