The header says it all. We’ve been frequent visitors and intend visiting again in future - especially for ‘steak night’. Excellent. Loved the police cottage we stayed in - high standards and very clean

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the police cottages, but were ‘fed and watered’ in the main hotel. Loved it
Stayed: March 2018, travelled with family

We had a comfortable night, a decent breakfast but hotel and decor a bit jaded. Felt a little like we had stepped back in time. Furnishings a bit tired and shower lukewarm. But staff were warm and friendly and welcoming

Dear Shelley G,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review as we appreciate your feedback.

We are saddened to hear that you did not enjoy your stay as much as our valued guests usually do. Had these inconveniences been mentioned prior we would have been more than happy to resolve the issues with the hot water and room arrangements promptly.

Unfortunately as you had not pre-booked, we did not have the opportunity to discuss room types and upgrade possibilities with you. We can only hope you enjoyed our wonderful area and are glad to know our friendly staff looked after you.

Warm wishes
DCH Team

What a fabulous find! My husband and I stayed in one of the three self catered 'rose cottages' which are very cosy, comfortable and warm with a brilliant log fire and underfloor heating. We arrived quite late and the bar staff gave us a warm welcome and showed us straight to our cottage at 9pm. They couldn't have been any friendlier and more welcoming during our stay. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the cottage. It comes with everything you could need - towels, toiletries, fully equipped kitchen and wood for the log burner. We enjoyed our stay so much we stayed a 4th night. Can't wait to return.

Have stayed here several times now mainly due to the great location and fantastic food in the restaurant. All the staff very helpful and professional - only minor criticism is that our room was very hot even though we did not have the wall heater on and slept with the window open every night. Other guests also commented on this. Still better than being too cold I guess.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a village view room.

We had a 2 night stay with our 2 pooches in a dog friendly room.
The room was light and airy, but the bathroom a bit on the wee side (cant be helped as its an old converted Village Hotel) as the towel rail can be a little hazardous when drying off. Water pressure superb with plenty hot water.
We heard an Owl in the trees from our bedroom and also lovely to hear the Church bell chiming.
The food was exceptional and enough to tempt any ones tastes.
The wine list was also very reasonably priced.
May I add that the Staff are all very friendly & the Hotel is spotlessly clean throughout
Ideal base to walk the beautiful coastal trail, from Embleton via the mighty Dunstanburgh Castle to Craster and back via the Golf Course.
Lovely to be back in Northumberland a stones throw from where I was born & brought up. .....Lovely we will be back.

Room Tip: Large Village view room, but you can hear traffic noise
