We had a one bedroom cottage in the estate grounds a short walk/ drive away from the hotel where we had an excellent breakfast every morning. I recommend the scrambled eggs. We have 2 dogs and it was perfect for them. Wooden floors throughout the cottage, walks from the door for miles, and a welcome in the bar for all of us. Good food, quite large portions, and very friendly staff. Rightly popular, the place was buzzed on Saturday night.

Thank you for taking the time to write us a review.

Our cottages are ideally situated within the Meikleour Estate with great walks for the dogs while enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Perthshire countryside.

Dog friendly in our accommodation and bar & restaurant allows our guests to enjoy a break away from busy life with furry friends in tow!

We called here after a weekend celebration at Persia House. We had had a heavy weekend at a 21st party. We needed some good food and a beer to stabilise our systems and the Meiklour Arms provided a great setting and wonderful hospitality. It is a lovely pub with a welcoming bar and airy dining area. The Sunday lunch menu was varied enough. we shared some nibbles before some wonderful soup. Across our group we enjoyed a cross section of the main courses and they were all good. We all enjoyed our food and the service. This is a great pub that delivers well!

The restaurant is very cosy with none of the souless atmosphere so often seen in hotel restaurants. The food is excellent and the staff really friendly. It's not cheap, but portions are generous and the menu has something for everyone. It tends to be a modern take on fairly traditional dishes - e.g. venison lasagne, various hearty salads, venison or beef burgers, steaks, scampi.
I do regret the change of decor when they extended it though because there is no longer any real space to go just for a drink and they've removed a lot of the upholstery meaning that sound echoes all over the place and it can get very noisy.

Thank you for our review.

As mentioned in our initial reply to you on our Hotel page:

Firstly let me apologise if you thought the place was rather noisy.
We have revamped all the upholstery banquettes with Scottish tweed and added new ones but yes we have replaced the tartan carpet we used to have with our underfloor heated flagstones.
Our bar/drinking space is just as big as before and we also have a new quieter area with high bar tables next to our private dining room, alongside our lounge for people to relax in, away from the bustle of the bar.

Restaurant is much improved since being extended and refurbished. Food is good but is not fine dining. Portions are generous. Main courses are priced at around £14 to £15. Sweets are priced at £5.95. Wine is £3.95 for a 125ml glass. Including drinks but excluding coffee, a 2 course lunch for two costs around £50. Lighter lunch options are available. Prices are in keeping with other restaurants in the area but are not cheap.

Been here twice now for lunch and dinner - love it! Great food - freshly cooked and well presented. We've had the scallops and the prawn cocktail for starters - both excellent - as well as the black pudding scotch egg - very tasty!
Main courses are all delicious - venison burger, beefburger, steak & ale pie. All served piping hot with nice side salad or vegetables.
Service is friendly and low key - but could be a bit more attentive - and the whole place has a lovely country pub atmosphere. Changed days since the old, dingy bar with restaurant at the back. The new owners have clearly invested a lot of money in the property and it shows in the decor, from the beautiful wood burning stove through to the new layout of the restaurant and bar. We would thoroughly recommend and will be back!

Thank you for your review of The Meikleour Arms Restaurant.

Our black pudding scotch egg is an firm favorite of many - we have had guests travel specifically for it, it certainly has got a name for itself!

The Meikleour Estate owners have invested hugely in the design and interiors of the hotel & restaurant.

The chefs aim to source everything as locally as possible with our venison coming from the estate and our beef is all prepared in house to ensure we have great quality.

We hope to welcome you again.
