It’s great for families and dog walkers and the views are simply stunning! There’s seats and picnic benches too which are great to use in the hotter weather. And on occasion the castle gates are open and you can explore the castle more closely. At the weekends it can be used by a lot of drunk teenagers hence why I’ve not gave it full marks. There’s also a nice swing park which is well kept.

It was our first time up at ardrossan castle, it's all fenced off now but plenty of info boards around and plenty of benches. Great place to get some peace and quiet or have a picnic!
Theres a swing park too and plenty of space for kids to run around.
There is amazing 360 degree view of ardrossan but next time well take some fish and chips with us!

An interesting castle with history associated with William Wallace, the Wars of Scottish Independence and Sir Fergus Barclay, the latter known as the De'il of Ardrossan for the legend of selling his soul in exchange for his skill as a horseman. There’s not much to see as the castle is now fenced off and mostly ruins, but it was an interesting point on the Ardrossan Heritage Trail and only a short climb up castle hill. There's lots of information boards about the history of the castle that added to the enjoyment of the stop, and so 'm giving an extra star. The views from the top of the hill are pretty good too.

Lovely place to go a walk around with dogs or just for families as there’s also a swing park it’s got stunning views over Saltcoats beach and over arran and is absolutely beautiful on bonfire night to watch all the fireworks! The castle is rarely open but on an odd occasion it is and you can wonder around the castles remains.

We had a look around, reading all the information about the castle, when a chap named Colin, arrived and took us on a guided tour of the castle, which is usually fenced off and locked.
He told us so much history about the place, and made it so real, especially when he was explaining about Wallace’s Larder. Scary,! What an amazing visit.
