We had a look around, reading all the information about the castle, when a chap named Colin, arrived and took us on a guided tour of the castle, which is usually fenced off and locked.
He told us so much history about the place, and made it so real, especially when he was explaining about Wallace’s Larder. Scary,! What an amazing visit.

There is a steep uphill walk to the castle. The top shows panoramic views of a
Ardrossan. No payment needed.

this was a trip down memory lane for me as I played here as a child I didn't know much about the castle so meeting the team working there on a dig was the icing on the cake for me well worth a visit the scenery is beautiful it is sadly now a ruin but the archaeologists are finding new stuff all the time see William Wallace's larder

On top of a hill and overlooking the harbour - also about the only tourist attraction in ardrossan. Rather neglected though with poor signage and poor maintenance. Good views across to the islands and beaches.
