We were very fortunate to come across St Margarets Cottage. A beautiful cottage in a peaceful location but within 5 minutes walk of the shop and pubs. Great walks nearby and would definately recommend a visit.

This was a restful half term week in February. The cottage was warm, cosy and comfortable with excellent facilites. The location was lovely and the surrounding area was a revelation. It is within easy driving distance to Edinburgh and we enjoyed several wonderful days out, including Melrose which was delightful

“Hidden Gem”

We searched extensively to find a cottage that ticked so many requirements. It was for a special celebration and we wanted to ensure we got the right cottage.
I'm very happy to say that we did. St. Margaret's is hidden away, almost cut into the hill side. So is extremely private.
But it has all the extra's you need with a home from home. Dishwasher, washing machine, fully stocked kitchen, WIFI, TV, DVD, Freesat, Stereo, Powerful shower, with a few extra's on top, such as the small conservatory and beautiful gardens.
The cottage was extremely warm (we rented at the end of October).
The pub is a short 10 minute walk away (if that). Amenities in the village were a little limiting, but a 20 minute drive to Berwick and you have all the usual large supermarkets.
It was wonderfully quite and dark at night, giving a very peaceful and restful sleep. I've never seen so many stars as we saw stood outside the cottage.
The roads were very well maintained and pretty much empty, allowing us to tour the surrounding area at ease. Although some lovely walks can be had directly from the front door.
Oblo's in Eyemouth was a fantastic restaurant. The New Inn pub in the village had fantastic home cooked style food.

“Secluded and quiet cottage”
Reviewed 17 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

The cottage is located in a totally secluded location with a view over fields to the sea.
However it is only a short walk to the village centre which has a couple of pubs and a Spar shop and an old ruined priory.
There are nice short walks alongside streams which you can take straight from the cottage.
It is not quite as near to the beach as we thought, you can walk there but especially if you are taking stuff to the beach it is better to use the free car park.
The cottage its self has everything that a modern holiday maker needs such as WFI, Blue Ray, Satellite TV, Dishwasher, Washing machine, integrated fridge freezer, built in cooker and hob etc.
It is an old cottage and so the windows seem to be small compared to a more modern property which means that it is darker. We thought that the cottage was very cosy at night.
Beds were comfortable, the shower was good and there is a large unoverlooked garden that wraps around the cottage. If you are lucky with the weather it is nice just to sit in the garden.
The villages in the immediate vicinity were not ever so interesting but Edinburgh is not too far. Going back into England the Holy Island of Lindisfarne is a hidden gem.

“Everything you would wish for in a holiday cottage - and more!”
Reviewed 30 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

St Margaret's is absolutely perfect for an "Escape to the Country", short-term or otherwise, with all the essential facilities nearby - pub, village shop, Post Office, bus, etc.. Very comfortable and tastefully decorated, the owners have done a great job. Access for parking is quirky but manageable, and only adds to this cottage's immense charm.
Coldingham and St Abb's and the surrounding area are just idyllic, but then we would say that because we've bought a house here and are using St Margaret's as a place of retreat whilst work is being carried out - and couldn't have found a better refuge!
