This summer, I wanted to visit Wales to see if my childhood memory of Snowdonia and the Brecon Becons matched reality. And I wanted to share the experience with my daughter and her friend. Turns out it was even more beautiful than I remembered.
Having this lovely little cottage, tucked away on a tiny side street in a sleepy town was just perfect. The house had everything we needed, was cozy, and was a short drive to start one of the many hikes up Snowdon. For those who are planning on hike, we took the Pyg track up and Llanberis trail down. We had to go past the parking area for the Pyg track because it was full and park in a farm field a few miles beyond, down in a valley below. Local taxis were ready and waiting to take us to the trail start, and then another returned us to our car at the end of our hike. It was all so easy and worked out so perfectly.
We also did the Go Below tour of a slate mine, which for the kids was the highlight of the trip. The guys who ran it, Andy and Mattie, were excellent guides with a great interest in preserving these slate mines that are such a key part of Welsh history.
The last evening, my British friend who had come by with her kids, and I walked down to the local pub from the Bron Haul cottage. The pub was super low-key, but a perfect way to end our three day stay.
I highly recommend this little cottage. Thanks, Samantha for all your communications and making this work out for us!
We booked the cottage for a weekend break to be able to visit Snowdon and Bedgellert but the cottage is also close to the coast and other amenities.
The cottage had everything we needed and was very cosy and homely with the wood burner lit after a day outdoors.
We shall be booking again.
Situated in the village of Trawsfynydd in Snowdonia Natonal Park, this traditional Welsh Cottage is ideally located to explore the many places that this beautiful area offers. Sam, the owner was very helpful in suggesting the best places to visit during our short 4 day stay and the cottage is well equipped and warm and cosy on the colder evenings. Our short stay was a taster for the area and we will visit again!
BRON haul lovely cosy well equipped cottage.Fantastic base for our weekend. The owner sam went above and beyond by returning some items that we had left behind, for which we are very grateful.Ideal for families and friends.Would definitely go back.
We stayed for the last week of August into start of September with our 3 small children. A holiday totally out of our comfort zone and very different for us but what a pleasant surprise! We will definitely be returning. The cottage is lovely, the kids loved it, and has been very nicely decorated. The owner Samantha has been great, good communication and very accommodating and helpful. The village has a small shop but we drove the 9 miles to Tesco in Porthmadog, where there's also a Lidl and Aldi, for our week's food. I did also get a Tesco online delivery mid-week for a top up! A great base for some amazing scenery, walks and days out. Can't recommend enough!
