My wife and two teenagers had the pleasure of meeting Rose and experiencing her culinary skills. We read about this place in a beach book and we were not disappointed. The view from the deck is simply stunning. She provided us with what I would consider a home cooked meal (fried grouper) and Jerk Chicken both accompanied with rice and peas with okra (a local dish) that was amazing. She provided a fun conversation and it was an overall pleasure to meet her. If you are looking to sample some local cooking in a fun relaxing setting overlooking the beautiful ocean then this is the place for you. Very reasonably priced, it was one of best meals we had on the island and without a doubt the most reasonably priced as well.

This is a special hidden away treasure. A beautiful out of the way home-cooking restaurant with the most captivating host! Rose is amazing. She makes wonderful food with love and stories, the beach is exquisite, she has little cottages for rent that look out onto the water (I didn't stay there so I don't know much about them) and she makes the most unique and artistic dolls out of shells, that if you're lucky enough, she'll have any left to sell you! I am not kidding - I am not into chachkas, but these are really special. Listen to her stories and be inspired by this amazing woman's journey!

Room tip: Some rooms were a little musty- but i am SUPER sensitive. Others were just perfect! I didn't stay there but I took a quick peek.

great local cuisine. unsurpassed view and ambiance (walk down to the beautiful beach). small and intimate. an old lab retriever lying on the sand floor, another mixed breed mutt, and a lazy cat. rose is interesting, sincere, and inspirational. a great christian without proselytizing. just far enough off the beaten path. next time we will try to stay in one of the cabins.

Rose Gibson is a one woman show at the Northside Inn - hotelier, housekeeper, tour guide and first and foremost - Chef. Aside from being a genuinely lovely person, that gal can cook! Yes, her place is a little out of the way. You will definitely not just stumble upon it, but please do go. You'll thank me for the advice. The menu is limited to what Rose has on hand that is fresh but you can count on to always have jerk chicken or fresh fish on the menu. Her grouper fingers are legendary too.

Being a one woman show, she does sometimes have to attend to business. So it's best to call ahead or make yourself at home on patio for a brief spell if she's not there right away.

We just spent a week at Northside Inn on Eleuthera. We had 5 days of great sunshine and 2 of rain and/or wind, so overall it was a great stay. You need to know a few things about this place to stay so that your expectations will be correct. First of all, this place is quite a ways south on the island which makes it a great place to be if you want to spend time searching for and being on the southern beaches. It certainly make Lighthouse beach relatively easy to get to ! Also, it sit's on top of sand over looking the beach and ocean, so it has awesome views, especially in the morning as the sun is coming up over the ocean. You can open your doors to your balcony and let the sunlight and breeze float into your room---pretty nice!

Northside Beach Inn is owned and operated by Rosie (Rose). She's in her 60's and maintains a bungalow for one couple, a bungalow with two rooms, and a bungalow with four rooms. She does the upkeep, cooks the food, buys the food, is the server, cleans the dishes, the kitchen, the little restaurant area, is the hostess, computer and tv operator, picks up and takes guests to the airport, and maintains the place. So, THINK, and realize that you might want breakfast and she just left to take or pick up someone from the airport. Or you might want sausage with your eggs and she needs to run into town and get some to cook for you. This does NOT present a problem if you COMMUNICATE with her and let her know that you DO want a breakfast or a dinner and can she make that happen? Don't assume she'll be available to fix you a meal unless you've confirmed it with her. Wednesday morning she was at church at 6 am, so, of course, the little restaurant will not be serving a 6 am breakfast on that day. Ok, so, now you know.

We were in the blue unit with two rooms. The views are not as good as the single unit. If you go with just your SO, I would suggest asking for the single unit. While we were there, two other couples were in the quad unit and it sits up higher on the hill and has better views than the blue unit but the balcony is not as private. Again, the single unit has the best views and a pretty darn private balcony.

There are two dogs on the property that lay around in the sand and bark occasionally. They were not a concern to us. There is one cat that is in the little restaurant from time to time. This cat is seen to be sleeping on the tables at times. It's not the most pleasant sight if you are about to eat on that table, so observe which tables the cat DOESN'T lay on and eat on those tables. Again, only a problem if you make it a problem or if you are quite allergic to cats. My wife is allergic and never had a problem.

The Wild Orchid is in Rock Sound, about 8 minutes away and located on the Caribbean with a nice bar, some good food and a much different presentation that Rosie's place. You might enjoy eating there some as we did, but the food that Rosie cooks IS indeed, awesome, and we found it better than the Wild Orchid. Also, Rosie's hospitality beat any other place we went on the island. She is a jewel of a person for sure.

We found this a great location to 'hub' out of to see Whiteland Beach which is just down the coast and Lighthouse Beach which is the southern most beach. Also, we headed west one day and spent time at the marina and off the coast into the Caribbean so this was a perfect place to stay for a trip like that.

Give me a shout if you want any tips or other info about this place! We'll be trying to go back for sure, but will probably split the trip between Rosie's place and someplace else. But for sure........we can't wait!

Room tip: We found the wi-fi, when working, was best at the restaurant
