“Not fancy, but authentic”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 September 2011

For fans of batik, this has become quite the Bahamaian art form. Place is nothing special (cinderblock/fluoro lights...But the fabrics are colorful and fun and range from classic tourita trap to actual art. Something for everyone...Unique gifts.

“Beautiful fabric, totally Bahamian made”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2004

While staying at Small Hope Bay Lodge I took a trip over the the Androsia Batik Factory. It is about 3 miles from the lodge. They arranged for several of the guests to do their own batik demo. We got to choose our own stamps and work in the wax room. It was great fun and I got to take the piece home after they dyed it for me. It is $25 to get a tour and do the batik demo. You can also do a self-guided tour for free. There were lots of good deals on clothes and fabric in their Outlet store as well as general souvenir items. This factory supplies stores all over the Bahamas. Definately worth a visit.
