“Go to Atlantis! It doesn't have to be expensive.”
Reviewed 4 March 2012

We went to Atlantis in March of 2011. We had a great time. We basically laid by the lazy river at the waterpark all week. This lazy river is not your typical lazy river. There are rapids, wavy areas, and it takes you straight to the waterslides. It is awesome. If you got sick of that, you could go to the beach which is right next to the waterpark. All the staff we interacted with were friendly. There are cheap options for food. There are lots of different food huts around the waterpark with varying prices. If you are a person who eats a lot, it may get expensive. If you to the Marina, there is Johnny Rockets and some other restaurants that are cheaper. We spent a little more two nights at the buffets which are the best I have ever had! This resort was incredibly fun and relaxing. Keep in mind that the rooms are not anything special, but they are not bad either (and I am very very picky about rooms). I plan on going here again probably a few times. (And I usually don't like to go back to the same place more than once...I want to see everything!)

Our family has been to the Dubai Atlantis (when it opened) and this one 3 times. The advantages are: It is close to NA (short flight), there is a lot to do if you have children (The slide, lazy rivers and the cove beach is a good (not great) beach). The best thing about the resort is the staff - truly amazing staff.

The cons: The place is seriously showing it's age. Rooms look like a hotel 8, a worn down and definitely not the type of place I would stay if traveling and their strategy is a grand nickel and diming strategy. The food is way over priced and little things - like Internet and the gym ($15 per day) should be inclusive elements.

And the food - WAY WAY over priced and awful. Nobu, the black cod is fantastic but the rest is overly mediocre. I eat a lot of sushi and as I go to more and more sushi restaurants, I come to realize how over-rated this restaurant is. The $49 sushi plate is run of the mill, small pieces and way over priced. Chopsticks, is alright. But goodness, $180 for 4 people (2 children) with no liqueur? Mediocre.

So we went there for a short break (I would never go there beyond 5 days - and never if I didn't have children). Service is usually what breaks a hotel - they have that nailed. If they rethought their food and took the time to rethink the nickel and dime strategy - it could be good again.

Last time.

This is our fifth visit to Atlantis. My 6 year old loves this place. She attends the Atlantis kids club every night and has a blast. The Coral Towers is showing some age, but still very nice.

My family stayed in Coral Towers, the room were smaller 300 sg ft versus the larger rooms in the Royal, Towers or Cove. However those newer options looked too big in size, well over 20 floors. The Coral was smaller.
It was February vacation and the place was packed!. My son said it best, I had good resort vacation, but I don't know the Bahamas. The resort is well run and service is nice, but everything is expensive. I am not use to these larger resorts, there were line for breakfast and dinner each night, make sure you make reservations.

Room Tip: the beach tower is perfect for small children and is close to the actual ocean
