Other reviewers were honest in the condition of this "older" hotel. We were prepared for it to be rundown as we booked literally the day before traveling, and options were few. However, the all-inclusive food is not worth the price; the bathtub didn't work; the hotel ATM was out of order; the beach bar was CONSTANTLY out of the local light beer (so it's really not all inclusive, a great way to limit consumption). But the beach is awesome!! Music by the pool bar is overly loud so sitting on your patio is sometimes impossible. Did I mention that the beach is awesome???

Any vacations' a good vacation. Everything about the Melia was good, especially the wait staff in the buffet area. The concierge was especially helpful. Would still like to see a computer area available so patrons could check into their airlines on the own if possible. Clara Joseph was exceptionally helpful and we wish she were acknowledged for her help.

Room tip: Not a bad room so far, we were overlooking the pool

This was one of the most relaxing and uncomplicated vacations in a long time and we travel all over. From the second you check in to the second you check out everything is taken care of. If you make dinner reservations before you arrive that is the best option, we never waited for a table once and the food was amazing. Also planning excursions with the hotel is very easy and often cheaper than doing it directly.

This place is great for a long weekend! Right on the beach, lovely pools and beautiful restaurants and common areas. The food was good and the drinks kept coming. They gave us a island view room but on our balcony we could still see the ocean. I will give that carpet hinders sounds but in the corridor and rooms was kinda musty and smelly. The beds were comfy but the bathroom was a tad outdated but perfectly functional. We ate at 2 of the restaurants, cilantro and aqua. Both were very well decorated and perfect. The main lobby was wonderful as well. We were there for superbowl and they had an amazing tailgate party!!! the game was on 2 huge projectors and all of the smaller tvs as well!!! so much fun!! The staff was very friendly and helpful. we took a taxi from the airport to there it was 25$ and going back was 20$. so it is not a set price. no problem really. The beach chairs are comfy and clean. I will stay here again!!!

We stayed for two weeks for a special Anniversary trip, and there was much that was good about our stay, but circumstances made some things not so good. Extremely pleased with the location of our room, ground floor with large patio and lovely deck chairs, close to beach, pool and amenities! The first few days were amazing. We snorkeled and saw stingray and group of fish; the pools were clean, warm and a nice hot tub near our room. We cannot say enough good things about the food at this hotel. The Nikkei and Cilantro were our favorites, with superb service and just wonderful food. We had the teriaki steak at Nikkei was tender, juicy and the best sushi we've ever had. Server Trevor made our dinners there very special. Cilantro had the best ribs ever, that were just falling off the bone with amazing sweet chili sauce, and on a bed of plantain stuffing. The Market Place has the main buffet with the best selection of main dishes I've ever seen with fresh fish, beef, turkey, pork, soups, pasta (changing daily with various themes). (chef Carolyn on the pasta area, made a wonderful Prawn dish, made to order that was excellent). Esta Vida, tapas bar had excellent sliders, sushi, nachos. I wish they were open for lunch, because they had a great deck with tables outside, that would have suited well for lovely lunches. The only truly upsetting part of our trip (which really disrupted things for 4 days) was a huge political convention that got out of hand in terms of conventioneer attendees who totally overran the whole hotel with drinking, shouting and partying. On our floor it went on until after 2 am, and had to go get security to try to get things under control. Even security couldn't handle things or quiet this down, so safety and comfort were definitely compromised by this convention. Many guests were very upset and talked to management the next day. To their credit the management person we dealt with, Melverne Williamson (The Level Manager) was so very professional and really handled things with the utmost concern and follow through. Despite both of us coming down with colds, that affected our energy level, we must say that Melverne tried to do all she could to make the rest of our trip a memorable one. The services affiliated with "The Level" were true pampering, with comfortable cabanas on the beach, drink and food service in that designated area; and a well appointed lounge with large TV's, upgraded liquor and appetizers laid out. Breakfast at the O'Grill near the beach was made special by Bendji, an excellent waiter, who said this was the "Godfather Breakfast" service!
One of our disappointments (and keep in mind we are in our 60's)... was the boom box music that had base vibrating though-out the resort from the "adult pool" area all day, and then the evening entertainment shows (that were good) but very loud and more base music that you couldn't get a break from. Perhaps it's our age, but some areas with upscale piano, guitar or solo vocalists would truly have been a solace and brought this closer to a four or five star hotel. Apparently some of the rooms have been upgraded, but there are definite areas that still need work on worn carpet in hallways. TV reception in one whole main wing that had been affected by a hurricane had not yet corrected, was disappointing. As far as visiting the downtown the local Chitney #10 buses were regular and inexpensive; and we did go there once, to see the colorful buildings but there wasn't much to see or do. The prices are very overpriced for attractions or to do other sightseeing (in comparison to other places in the world, we have visited).
