We had an amazing beachfront vacation at this location on the far southwest side of New Providence! The balcony was by far our favourite spot to gaze out at the vast ocean full of some many beautiful shades of blue!
Stayed here for a week with our 14 year old twin daughters. Great value and beautiful beach (basically private). Experienced the real Bahamas not the tourist areas. Snorkeled everyday. Access to beach was literally steps away from the unit. Area is poor and impoverished. Always felt safe. Rented a car to explore and also brought an extra checked bag (thanks to Southwest and free checked bags) full of food to minimize what we had to buy locally. Groceries and dining out are relatively expensive but typical for an island.
Unit could use some updates to fix a few things but nothing that would keep us from going back.
It was a great week for our family and allowed us to just hang out, read some books, run on the beach, eat some good local food, meet some nice people and experience what the Bahamas has to offer.
This rental was VERY nice. When it says it is ON the beach - it is truly on the beach. It is a two unit home (side by side) a small yard with a wall around it. Out the gate at high tide - there is a few feet of sand - then Ocean. Low tide maybe 10 feet of sand. Shallow off the house at low tide - its nice depth at high. Reef a few hundred yards off shore. Tiger Woods development just to West. Huge yachts moored offshore as the sun sets.
House itself is clean, nicely appointed and all functions well.
Can't say how very helpful everyone is that works for Tangerine Sunsets. They set us up with a local rental car company when no one had cars on Christmas Day.
The only reasons my stay didn't get a 5 star rating have nothing to do with the place, the house, the location, the service or anything.
Its only that I was a bit shocked at how expensive everything is on the island. Most lodging is in resorts. Away from resorts there isn't a ton of dining options etc. The area the home is in is VERY quiet - no stores for many miles. Many houses are damaged by past storms and some left to decay. If you are looking for nightlife - still might not be a bad place to hang - just that you have to drive to find the nightlife. Nassau is about 45 min away.
Such friendly people in the Bahamas wherever we went. So helpful. People having a picnic on a beach chatting us up and then giving us free drinks like we were old friends.
Thank you to Duran and Brigitte and Zaira and Kemier our car rental guy.
´´ Pomelo North was wonderful. My family (3 older kids and a 9 year-old) enjoyed the accommodations very much. Clean, stylish, and well-stocked in a part of the island most tourists never see. Lots to explore in the area-- or just stay put and enjoy the house/beach/sea. Lounging on the veranda (reading, napping) or playing on the sand (building castles, hunting for shells), working on a tan or swimming and snorkeling in the water (there's a small reef just offshore that rises up at low tide!). Pick up a few groceries and a bottle of local rum and you're all set!´
Loved staying at this low key beach house for my birthday! The ocean was just steps away from the house and it was complete paradise. Also great spot for snorkeling, we went every day! Thank you for a great stay!
