We usually like to drive over to Coral Bay a few times each trip, however, this time we only went once. They are still recovering from the terrible storms that ripped through the islands. I've been told that they are making progress, but there is a lot of trash, debris, destroyed homes and businesses still in evidence. Having said this, we had a good brunch at Wok on the Beach, and though we didn't stop this time, one of our favorite local spots has rebuilt and was busy...Skinny Legs....just don't ask for a blender drink! There are some good places to hike over there and snorkeling/swimming beaches too. I am sure your business would be appreciated as they continue to recover. Bonus...lots of the island donkeys are around here...so cute!

Shards/remnants of structures, huge dumpsters, piles upon piles of mechanical parts, but this is all testimony to an area rebuilding. Restaurants are opening, electricity is almost entirely restored, there is WIFI around. .. the east side also boasts some awesome beaches for hanging, swimming, and snorkeling. ..
Worth the drive and certainly worthwhile to contribute to this revitalizing economy.
Hearty runners will enjoy the very steep hills.

Our family stayed at a villa in Coral bay for a week in February. It has a great, laid back vibe. We loved trying out all of the different restaurants nearby us. Most everything (shops and restaurants) on this side of the island are really relaxed. BUT, just because it is "the other side of the island" that you are in the middle of nowhere! It is super easy to head into Cruz bay for the afternoon, or hit a ton of different beaches or hit a hiking trail anywhere on the island. It truly is an amazing area of an amazing island.

Coral Bay is quiet but its getting more and more developed as is all of St. John. Disappointed with how crowded the beaches are in St. John these days.

My husband & I have been on vacation numerous times to St. John and having stayed in villas on the Cruz Bay side, Chocolate Hole side, Bordeaux Mountain side, we ABSOLUTELY prefer the Coral Bay side.
The roads may be a little more winding and it might take a little longer to get to where you are going but hey, you're on vacation so what is the rush!

There is less traffic and noise on the Coral Bay side of the island. There are no resorts here either.
There is some great dining offered by checking out some of these restaurants in Coral Bay: Indigo Grill, Skinny Legs Bar & Grill, Aqua Bistro, Pickles in Paradise, Coral Bay Caribbean Oasis, Miss Lucy's, Shipwreck Landing, Colombo Smoothies, and Cafe Concordia.
There is a spa and wellness center at Island Massage near Aqua Bistro. There is nightlife at Cases By the Sea, also located near Aqua Bistro. There are small markets near by and you can spend the day at Via's Beach if you head out towards the East End.

Coral Bay is only a short drive back to Cruz Bay for dinner or shopping. The North Shore beaches can be reached easily and sites like Annaberg Plantation are also close by.
