Description: Amalia Cafe is a delightful open air Spanish themed restaurant in historic downtown Palm Passage, Charlotte Amalie. The menu is heavy on tapas, with favorite Spanish entrees like Paella or Zarzuela. Enjoy a taste of Spain in the Caribbean.

St.Thomas compared to St.Maarten is not reputed for it's dining scene, however there are a few real good places if you are visiting the island either by ship or by plane. My favorite is Amalia Cafe run by Maynard, one of the nicest people that you will meet on the planet, much like Gladys that I write about as well. If you have never tried Tapas or Spanish cuisine then now is the time. Dining in the pleasant courtyard feeling in Palm Passage with the cobble rock path is fantastic. Our favorite is to have a bottle of nice Rose and his Zarzuela de Moriscos is to die for. Basically a Costa Brava style seafood Casserole baked in a Tomato Brandy sauce, delicious. Maynard also prepares a great Paella.
Don't miss on your next visit to the island.

Enjoyed the wonderful conch fritters and key lime pie. Wonderful service as well. Painkiller rum drink to wash it down with was amazing too.

A touch of Spain on a side street in downtown Charlotte Amalie. Friendly service with good food and a patio from which to observe the passing scene. I had the soup of the day plus gambas and crabmeat Tapas. My wife had pumpkin soup and a very authentic Sangria. It was an excellent choice for lunch.
