We eat here whenever we are in St Thomas -- 3 or 4 times a year for several years -- and we've never been disappointed. The dishes on the standard menu are good, but we've found their specials to be even better. Especially the pasta of the day. It has never been anything less than excellent and many times it has been superb. The servers are experienced, the owner is friendly, and the atmosphere is charming.

We also like "Room with a View", which does have a great view and really good food, but it is never quite as good as the pasta special at Amalia Cafe. We also like "Wicked" at Yacht Haven Grande, whose menu has both a cheap side and an expensive side; the food is very good, but can't quite beat the pasta special at Amalia Cafe; Wicked does have a somewhat more lively atmosphere, so for a party feel this is where we go, as Amalia Cafe is usually pretty quiet.

We were looking for a nice and relaxing meal after going to the beach all morning and early afternoon. We are glad we found Amalia on Tripadvisor. It is conveniently located in downtown Charlotte Amalie down the Palm Passage, near all of the shopping. We sat outside on their cute, well designed patio. The service was prompt, friendly and informative. We both had sandwiches, one steak and one pork - they were really good - cooked perfectly. We will definitely stop in again when in St. Thomas.

On our last night in St. Thomas, we had dinner at Amalia Cafe. What a wonderful local adult romantic dinner. The sangria, dinners and service (Alton) were excellent. We enjoyed the guitar from further down the Palm Passage, (a more lively bar).Note: the gate to the main shopping street is closed at night so enter from the harbor side).

We have eaten at this cafe for lunch three years in a row on our one day visit to st. thomas as we await a flight home. The service has always been quick and friendly and the food is excellent. Both my wife and I feel that the Calamari is the best we have had in any country in any restaurant - it is a must try - it is lightly battered and cooked perfectly.
we will be back next year

Met more locals than tourists on my lunchtime visit...wine was crisp, cold, and very reasonably priced; food was varied, fresh, and served with generous hospitality. After eating here, I can honestly say Charlie Sheen is not the only one WINNING!
