I visited Asa Wright Nature Centre with my Brother and Sister-in-Law in February 2005 for a day trip.

I can't give a discription that would do this place justice. I've never encountered so many different birds in all my life in one location.

That one day there made me long to go back and so March 2, 2008 I will. I will be there for about a week this time. I can't wait!

This place will overwhelm your senses with all the nauture you could stand at one time!

If you love the great outdoors and wildlife, Asa Wright Nature Center is the place for you!

an ideal place to stay for all nature lovers, sadly i was only here for a day trip, and can highly recommend for everyone, i went with a friend who has walking dificulties, so was unable to go on the nature trials, instead she had a great time sitting on the verander and watching nature come to her, and enjoying the help by the many staff only too willing to point things out, despite being a true Trini for over 60 years claims to have seen birds there that she had never seen before, as a tourist from England i saw loads of varieties that i had not seen, and the walk was more like a stroll through botanical gardens with a number of plant life on show and pointed out as we went past, sadly our walk was cut short due to a sudden down pour, which had turned the paths to mini rivers, but despite this a truly good day out, and once back soon dried out as we joined our friend for lunch, definatly worrth seeing not to mention great views on the way there!

We stayed at Asa Wright for 3 nights 2+ days during mid January. This is a fantastic place to see birds.
We spent much time on the veranda and taking short walks and saw many many birds, lots of flowers, and a few animals.

There is always a guide on the veranda pointing out birds or to answer your questions.

Our package included a walking tour of the grounds - with a guide. Took about 2 hours. Also a walk to the oil bird caves - which we did not do. There are many additional tours off site, you can book if you wish

Food was fine. Meals are buffet style. Meals include some local food. Enough choice so no problem. Other guests there are interesting.

Accomodations are adequate. Not deluxe. Rooms are basic, clean. No extra chair, No AC. Was a ceiling fan. Bathrooms clean but old, twin beds, firm mattress -

Weather was humid, warm - hot, but not too hot. Rained on and off first day, even though supposed to be the dry season. 2nd day cleared up.

We were in Trinidad for six months in 2003. We went to Asa Wright many times to show friends and family. But you don't need to stay there to enjoy what is offered. Have lunch there (delicious Trini food) and then sit on the veranda and enjoy a cold beverage (a Carib perhaps!) and watch the beautiful hummers and honeycreepers come right up to your stool. You can also take a hiking tour (about 1 1/2 hours) with informative, friendly guides. There's also a beautiful pool at the bottom of a waterfall that the kids love, which is a short stroll away from the Centre but still on the grounds.
