This is a high-end sushi restaurant in the main lobby of the Ritz-Carlton on Seven Mile Beach. An intimate place, nice atmosphere. The sushi was excellent, everyone enjoyed their meal very much. Everything tasted very fresh. They have a nice selection of sake as well, which my son really enjoyed. The mochi ice cream for dessert was phenomenal! Pricey but highly recommended if you like great sushi.

We had an unbelievable experience at Taikun. The sushi was great, as expected, but the service was a wonderful surprise throughout our evening.

At the bar, we received splendid drink recommendations from Jayson and Richard. They encouraged me to try a simple rum concoction that hit the spot right before dinner.

In the restaurant, we were attended by a great server - Theresa (sp?). She made sure that we ordered the right dishes, and balanced our meals with super sake pairings. The sushi chefs were really friendly, especially Manoz, who went out of his way to explain and demonstrate his art. In the end, the head chef Jaka checked in with us to ensure that we had a pleasant meal. We absolutely did! Thanks!

I've been coming to the hotel for an annual board meeting for the last nine years and always enjoy a meal at the Japanese restaurant. The food and beverage supervisor, Tanya Raynovska has always been so welcoming, attentive and always seems to fit us in the restaurant that usually fully booked. I have never had a bad meal and the excellent service what you would expect from the Ritz.

Went to Taikun for dinner last night. We had been there before so we were really looking forward to a special evening in the $350 range. Our waitress Anna was lovely and very helpful she chose a Junmai sake for us that we loved. We ordered the omakase. What a mistake. Decent miso soup followed by two scallops with ikura. Not bad. next was three mini crepes stuffed with a salmon pate served with strawberry slices and a citrus sauce. Okay. The sushi and sashimi that followed you would get in any strip mall. Not bad but not interesting or different. Then the rolls came. Who knows what they were because they were drowned in eel sauce, spicy mayo, and some other sauce. A whole plate of disgusting mush. To Anna's credit, she saw our discomfort and replaced them with a rainbow roll. You could have gotten the same quality at the strip mall. The restaurant is very pretty but unless you like your sushi drowned in mushy sugary sauces, I would take a pass. Other than the sake, it was a total waste of money.

I can't say enough good things about Taikun. Everything we ordered was delicious and beautifully prepared . Our waiter was extremely helpful and knowledgeable... he was able to answer any questions we had and offer suggestions. My skeptical husband was experiencing sushi for the first time and has now become a sushi lover!
