We would have liked to have known that the beach and water in front of the hotel was full of stinky dark seaweed. It even smells at the pool sometimes. They are working hard to remove but that means bulldozers are working all day..... annoying not relaxing. We have been hear before and love this hotel. So super dissatisfied. Go to Westin because the water is super clear down there.

Dear Carrie,
I am so sorry you had to experience the seaweed, that condition came as result of Hurricane Michael, that originated quickly and developed fast close to us; causing storms and bringing seaweed to Grand Cayman. This time our beach was also affected; some of the seaweed is still in the water and it will probably take a few more days to completely clear up, however, the majority has been removed and there should not be any more disturbances on the beach area. The normal condition of our beach is very pristine.
We truly hope we can see you again so that you can experience the crystal clear waters of our beach as well.

All of the staff we encountered were very friendly and accommodating. I had several of them acknowledge me when I saw them days later in other areas of the property. The food was very good in both the more casual Coccoloba (great view of the sunset)and more formal Ave. It is true that it is not easy to walk to other restaurants nearby but it is possible. The sidewalks are good in some places but not all. You can walk down the beach however. We walked down to other nearby hotels and a couple of different restaurants during our stay. There were many places to sit and relax across the property. Be sure to take advantage of the paddle boards, floating rafts, snorkeling equipment, etc. to get the benefit of your resort fee.

Rained most of our vacation when we visited Grand Cayman in September. Do yourselves a huge favor and do not go to this island in the months of Sept or October as it does nothing but rain. We were stuck inside for 3 of our 5 days in Grand Cayman due to the heavy rains.

Very disappointed by the whole experience. The food was average at best. The worst meal was the vegetarian meal served at the library since the restaurant was closed due to upgrades. The "happy hour" wine was honestly the worst wine I have ever had in my entire life.

You are very isolated at this resort location. There is no ability to walk to other restaurants, etc.

The taxi service on the island is very inconsistent on pricing. We paid $10 one way and $25 for the return trip. Furthermore, we asked our taxi driver to show up the next day to take us to the airport to leave. We specified a specific time for him to pick us up and he agreed to it several times. He never showed up.

Lastly, getting through the airport security was painful. We arrived two hours before the flight and barely made it through security on time for our flight after multiple checks, etc.

Never been so happy to get back home.

Hi there,
It make us really sad to know that you didn't have the 5 stars vacations you deserved :( . September is a tricky month, while you can get really good deals on flights and hotels to Grand Cayman, the weather is a bit unpredictable, it may be sunny many days but there is also the possibility of liquid sunshine as it is the middle of the summer. However, please don't be discouraged, we truly hope you can give Grand Cayman a second chance, it is definitely worth it.
Taxis in Grand Cayman have set prices, please know you can request this before every trip and they should be able to show you the chart with the correct charge for that trip. On the other hand, we do have taxis available at the main hotel drive, so there is no need to prearrange with any particular taxi.
We will be extremely happy for you to come back, so that we can show you the real Cayman Kind and Seafire experience. Rain or shine we promise we will make it up to you!
Cheers

We visited Grand Cayman for our 30th Anniversary. It was our fist time to the Island.

We usually try to stay at Kimpton properties when available and this was a Great property.

The hotel is new, clean and in a great location on the beach. The rooms and service were impeccable.

The pool and beach were unbelievable. We will never forget the blue color of the water.

We were there for a week so we had time to visit all the other properties on the beach, including the Westin, Ritz and Marriott. The Kimpton blew them all away.

From the pool attendants, Roy, Mo, Vernon and Gabriel, who treated us like family to the concierge's Deanna and Kimberly who took care of anything we needed. It was tough when we had to leave. They were like our friends.

The pool was large and clean and the rooms were large with great views.

The hotel had bikes for guests so we could explore the island. Unlike other places we have visited it was very safe and easy to travel the island. It was a quick ride to grocery stores and liquor store is you wanted anything.

We will definitely be back.

Great 5 star customer service, cake and sparkling wine was sent up by the hostess for my wife's birthday, great decor amazing design. located on 7 mile beach with plenty of beach to walk, very very picturesque, the complimentary use of bikes are a big plus, Local population is very hospitable and nice. always felt safe. Calico Jacks is a great beach bar right next door to the property
The only negative was the occasional smell wafting over the water and onto shore from local sewage treatment facility I emphasize smell only and we were able to move to avoid it, but we would have to move and scout our beach spot, a search on the internet indicates this is an island issue and is not unique to this hotel.

Hi there!
Thank you for the great comments, we are happy to know you enjoyed everything about your stay! Happy birthday to your wife one more time! We hope she had a blast!
Luckily we have very minimum sewed issues in Grand Cayman, if any, the other side of the island may be the most affected area; leaving Seven Mile Beach clear under normal whether conditions, so nothing to worry about!
Come back to see us soon for more celebrations!
Cheers
