Amazing time spent at Sunset house with my family. The resort is not on the beach, instead it is on a shoreline with the most amazing reefs imaginable. The ability to walk out of my hotel room and drop into crystal clear water to scuba or snorkel is truly unbelievable. The pool is a great place to relax after a dive. The restaurant offers fantastic food and great variety, especially the Indian menu. Finishing up the night at the bar on property was the icing on the cake. The dive staff was knowledgeable and friendly.

Room tip: All rooms had great views.

My husband and I love Sunset House! Our room was comfortable, with a terrific ocean view and balcony! The dive shop and accomodations for divers---equipment lockers, freshwater baths, ladders and jump in spots, and above all, Cathy Church's onsite underwater photo studio---were PERFECT! The only negative, and not a big one, the food was mediocre. We found much better options elsewhere for similar prices.

My son and I stayed at Sunset House for a scuba vacation in early July. We very much enjoyed our stay and it was great for us as our interest was in diving. The room was comfortable and clean and well air conditioned, a must for July in Grand Cayman. We had a package that included a full cooked breakfast every day and took advantage of it before our dives. The menu included a choice of omelets, eggs, sausage, bacon, french toast, pancakes and breakfast burritos. In addition we got cereal, toast, juice, and coffee.

We enjoyed almost all of our other meals in the bar. We were offered two menus - the bar and the restaurant. Each menu - bar or restaurant - was identical for lunch and dinner differing only in the price for the items. The bar menu offered typical bar food i.e. burgers, wraps, salads, wings etc. while the restaurant menu offered general American fare but also had an Indian menu. While the bar and the restaurant's American menu were good, we found the Indian menu to be very good. The conch fritters on the bar menu were also very good.

The restaurant/bar draws diners from outside the hotel. I suspect a major draw is the location and the view. As you sit at the table under the umbrella you gaze out at a beautiful, unspoiled ocean vista. In the evening, it is a perfect place to sit and watch the sun set. As the bar faces dues West, the sun provides a captivating light show as it sets directly in front of you.

The service was very friendly and responsive. The Haims who manage the property are wonderful sources for information on the island and are enjoyable to talk to.

The shop in the hotel offers a wide range of camera supplies and some dive supplies as well. The prices seemed quite reasonable, not excessive as one sometimes finds at hotels.

The one drawback might be a limited set of options for other entertainment in the vicinity. While Georgetown is within easy walking distance, the lack of consistent sidewalks, narrow road and frequent traffic makes it an adventure, one we wouldn't suggest you venture at night.

We did walk into Georgetown but found that there is not really much going on if the cruise ships are not in town though there were great prices on liquor in the store we found open.

I imagine the nightlife and restaurant options are much more enticing along the highrise hotel strip on 7 mile beach.

We just returned from a four night stay at Sunset House in Grand Cayman. As divers we really liked this spot. The rooms were just OK but clean and the AC worked well! When I say just "ok" I mean that they were a bit bland. Beds/pillows/bathrooms etc were all fine. The restaurant, bar and diving facilities are all great. Not much of a dive shop in terms of items to sell but the staff is nice and knowledgeable. The diving itself was interesting particularly the Kittywake. We also enjoyed what is a surprising nice shore area to dive when we weren't out on the boats. Were we to go back to Grand Cayman, we'd definitely go back to the Sunset House.

This was our 1st trip to the Grand Caymans and after a lot of research on where to stay and deals on diving we decided to stay at the Sunset House in George Town. The hotel prices were reasonable priced but there is an additional cost for diving thru the resort, the accommodation were great with breakfast every morning, but they did not have bagels, the staff both at the hotel and dive shop was one of the best very friendly and helpful. The restaurant and bar served wonderful food and beverages. We were very impressed with the hotel, staff, dive shop, and the closeness to other areas around the hotel to visit and shop. If interested, a short walk to the shopping district is 20-25 minutes. The Office staff was very helpful setting up transportation and vehicle rentals from local vendors.

Thank you for staying at Sunset House, Scorch! We do offer both Dive and Non Dive packages for our guests. Pre-booked dive packages during your stay are your best value! Sorry about the bagels.. (some of our long time guests coming down from NYC bring us some fresh bagels, which is a treat for us, so we know what you mean) Thanks for the wonderful comments and we look forward to seeing you again... Warm regards.... Keith and the rest of the staff.
