Our flight was delayed and we were placed in the hotel for just one night. What a hurrendous experience: the hotel is still undergoing construction, there is no hot water, it’s filthy and service is virtually nonexistent. The hotel doesn’t have any elevators, so we had to lug our luggage up and down to the third floor. I understand that the island was devastated by the hurricane and sympathize with the people of St.Martin. With that said, if the place is not ready to be operational and certain standards are not met, the hotel should not be open for business. Especially when they proclaim that it’s a 4 Star property and it seemed like we were in a 2 Star shed at the very best. United paid nearly $600 for the room per night. We could have easily stayed at a 5 star resort for that money. Stay away from this place if you are looking for quality and good service.

Dear sir, your review is entirely false. Rooms are around 140 eur per night in low season, not 600 as you claim. After the hurricane we are doing works like 100% of the other hotels at the moment. We have hot water and rooms are spotless. We can understand the frustration of have a delayed flight, but we have nothing to do with that. When we have a flight emergency, we do our best to provide the best service and accommodate everyone.

We stayed there recently on a weekend getaway. The hotel, situated just north of the lake with a beach layout, was arranged to expose some beautiful views, and some great areas to enjoy that view. While there was a beach, the pool area was popular with some areas near it to enjoy the sun. The pool was our favorite part, especially with views of the sunset! The rooms were comfortable, and the bathroom looked new. The outdoor restaurant served terrific French cuisine, and I highly recommend going there at least once.

That said, there's no getting away from the fact that the property (and island) was hit hard by the hurricane. From the looks of it, it feels that the hotel has gone through already a significant amount of rebuild. That said, it really shows up well in how the staff still diligently endeavor to create a memorable experience for us. Maybe it's some level of a larger island pride. I'll be back, and hope to be here longer than one weekend next time.

The hotel has partially re-opened after the two major hurricanes Irma and Maria. Some rooms are in use and some are being reconstructed so expect some noise during the day.
The rooms are beautiful and spacious. So is the pool area. The restaurant is open and the food is as always amazing. I was so happy to be back.

We were sailing out of St. Martin earlier this year and needed a hotel upon arrival and departure. This hotel happened to be close enough to the marina and we did not have any particular expectations from it; however, we were pleasantly surprised to find a wonderful place with newly renovated large rooms with balconies, beautiful pool; but more importantly, wonderful staff. I want to say a special thank you to Ana (Anna). She was there for us for all our needs - car rental, restaurant reservations, room changes. St. Martin is the gastronomic capital of the Caribbean, and I thought, having been there a dozen of times, that I knew all the best places to eat at, but the restaurant she sent us to turned out to be the best place we have ever eaten. THANK YOU! I am not sure if she is a manager, owner or an employee, but if she is on salary, she deserves a good raise. She is truly an asset to the hotel.

On a recent trip to Guadeloupe we decided to detour to St Martin to see what has been described as a jewel in the Caribbean. We were aware of Hurricane Irma and it’s destructive power but to see the damage first hand was a real shock. Everywhere you look is devastated.
The people of the island are enduring hardships whilst trying to rebuild their lives and livelihoods.
Hotels and resorts are only partially refurbished however the owners are still accomodating guests in areas that have been re built.
The beaches and infrastructure have been reinstated so as to provide a reasonable stay.
We stayed at the Hotel Mercure Marina and beach. Although completely damaged by the hurricane the owners have restored about 40 or so rooms back to AI condition completely renovating with new bathrooms and interior.
The bar and restaurant are fully functional serving delicious food. Service was first class and friendly.
The pool area looks brand new and the onsite beach completely restored. The gardens are coming back to life with new Palm trees being moved in. Yes the reception needs renovation but you are not there to stay in lobby but to enjoy the ambience that the location offers. Rooms and relaxation areas are the priority in the owners eyes.
We stayed in Room 188 right on beach with great views.
The owners Baki and Sylvie were appreciative of all of their guests for coming to their property as it in turn provides employment and income for their staff with the money flowing back into the economy.
If yo want a relaxing first class holiday without the crowds I whole heartily recommend the Hotel Mercure St Martin and Marina Baie Nettle.

Dear Peter and Robin, your understanding is so important to us.
Many people forgot that hurricane Irma destroyed our beautiful island. We never closed a day since the storm and we are so dedicated in repairing our hotel to be ready for next season.
