We wanted to be close the where our cruise ship would be docking in Philipsburg. The Pasanggrahan was perfect for this. We stayed in the new section and had a beachview suite - excellent four poster bed with mosquito netting, nice sitting area and TV, huge bathroom with bath, shower, double sinks, make-up area and separate toilet plus a small coffee making area and sink.

The hotel is situated in a tiny oasis of trees along the tourist strip of Philipsburg. It has a very cute beach front bar and restaurant. The manager of the hotel has a fishing boat and often has fresh locally caught fish on the menu. We dined in the hotel for breakfast, lunch and dinner because the food was so nice and fresh. The staff were lovely too!

It is not the fanciest hotel that I've ever been in, but it certainly was perfect for us and provided what felt like a very authentic Caribbean experience. The locals even come there for the weekly prime rib night.

Do try to get into the new section of the hotel.

Room Tip: Stayed on 3rd floor - ocean view suite in the new section

We stayed in one of the renovated suites and it was a superior room. Not sure how the older rooms stack up if not renovated but didn't meet anyone that was unhappy with the hotel or their room. The staff were excellent, really looked after us and the hotel has an old style charm to it. The location right on the boardwalk, in the middle of the commercial area of Phillipsburg can't be beat. Walking distance to the cruise line piers as well which was handy in our case. A very nice part of St Maarten.

Room Tip: Renovated rooms are the best. Suites are very large but you pay for them.

Very pleasant and clean and right on the beach. The pancakes and bacon at breakfast were very tasty, ditto the egg white omelette. Great location if you are joining a cruise or just want to wander on the beach. Lots of good restaurants nearby.

Truly look no further when looking for a place to stay in Sint Maarten! This place is an absolute gem, with exceptional service, exceptional food, and the location is in the heart of the island. My husband and I booked here and just absolutely loved our stay and experience at the Pasanggrahan.
The owners are personable, and make you feel at home, and the staff works to reassure your comfort in every way. We were so happy with our overall experience that we are now planning our next years trip.
Truly, if you want to feel at home, and want to eat like a king and queen (you must try the pancakes), give this beautiful boutique hotel the chance to appease your needs! PLUS! There's a ton of history at this hotel, and if you ask, they will be more than happy to share it with you!

We had a late dinner with two other couples. The hotel lobby and restaurant are inviting, outside but mostly covered and facing the scenic harbor. The staff were pleasant and accommodating. The food was very good. The pasta with mushrooms, stuffed/grilled wahoo and rack of lamb were felt to be delicious. The bill with tip, without alcohol, was about $40 per person.
