Description: Perched high up between the Piton mountains, The Boucan Restaraunt is open to both residents and non residents. Boucan is The Hotel Chocolat’s own restaurant, where guests can experience Cacao Cuisine. The word “Boucan” refers to the traditional West Indian name for a cocoa drying facility. The restaurant is built on the site of the Rabot Estate’s original Boucan. Boucan is also linked to “boucaneer” or “buccaneer,” the local pirates that would smoke and dry their food to preserve it for long trips at sea. The Boucan offers a strong connection with cacao and chocolate. For over 3,000 years, cacao has been used as a savory ingredient and for 500 as a sweet ingredient. The menu explores both, with the chefs taking their inspiration from the fresh cacao growing all around the estate, together with amazing local fish and seafood, salad leaves, vegetables and plentiful fruit. However the cuisine is far from cocoa heavy. The menu often makes use of cacao as a light, subtle spice or as an infusion. The desserts make full and imaginative use of the estate cacao, with each evening meal rounded off with the day’s new chocolate creation. Boucan’s breathtaking minimalist design includes a soaring roof inspired by the shape of the cacao tree, with its branches reaching to the sky, and shaded by the lush rainforest canopy. Its high platform is a centre stage for the Big Nature views all around.Dining at the Hotel Chocolat's Boucan Restaurant, whether it be breakfast, lunch, dinner or the fabulous sundowner cocktails, is an experience to be shared and cherished. We passionately believe we are certainly offering something very different at Boucan. The dress code is smart/casual and ladies a cocktail dress is never out of place!

We spent our last night dinner here after having drinks at Dasheen at Ladera Resort while watching a beautiful sunset. This dinner experience did not disappoint and was one of the few meals about $100 that I felt was worthy of the price in the quality of the meals. We had a nice silhouette view of the petit Piton while we ate. The service was excellent and the food very good with good portions. My wife had the lamb shank and I had the ribeye which comes sliced with a nice portioned side of pumpkin mash and vegetables. They started us off with a shot glass of tomato soup which was very good as well. Both meals are infused with chocolate made in house in their chocolate lab. By the way, it is here as well where you can purchase chocolate made here. We bought several bars and cocoa sticks as great gifts and for ourselves to enjoy. We both enjoyed our meals very much and the dessert was excellent! If you are a chocolate lover you will enjoy every bit of the dessert. The name of the dessert was Lava Cake I believe and was recommended by our waiter...awesome!

The food was excellent! Everything we ate was delicious! I had the Cacao Beer Jerked Pork Tenderloin from dinner and it was a 5 star meal. However, I cannot give the whole experience 5 stars because the restaurant was very loud. There was a very large party (probably 12 people) with mostly children who were loud, moving all around, watching videos on iPads, etc. It really ruined the ambiance for my husband and I trying to enjoy a nice (and expensive!) meal on our honeymoon.

Sorry the ambiance wasn't to your liking on this particular evening, we do welcome families with children to the restaurant & tours but we are actually an adult only hotel. Delighted however that you enjoyed the cuisine. Appreciate your feedback

Nice setting with a close up view of one of the Pitons but not really spectacular due to the low elevation. I tried the fish roti and it was tremendously disappointing particularly for the steep price. It was mostly sweet potato filler with hardly any fish (maybe 2-3 ounces) with almost no Indian spiceness whatsoever-utterly bland. For dessert, the Magnificent Piton was tasty but the set up made it very hard to eat when shared-it was a completely messy adventure. Overall, this place has all the hype but doesn’t deliver much. You can get a bigger and much better authentic roti at Fedo’s in Soufriere for about a quarter of the price.

Sorry to hear this. We are always happy to exchange dishes which don't hit the spot, I think sharing any dessert is a messy adventure. I would disagree about the low elevation as we are over 1,200 feet above sea level at Boucan but thanks for your comments

Drive past location and popped in on the off chance.

Had lunch with family - awesome view of piton.

30 USD for fish and chips felt excessive for St Lucia.
