My husband and I spent a week at East Winds over the New Year, and it went above and beyond our expectations. We fell in love with St. Lucia's beautiful beaches and wonderful weather, but we didn't want to go to one of the big rowdy resorts, so the reviews of this well-kept secret caught our eye.

Not only was East Winds a very cozy, personal atmosphere, it was also well thought-out to the last detail. The staff were amazing in every way, the food was delicious at every meal (and especially the big NYE gala), and the drinks were made with top shelf ingredients. The beach was beautiful, and the new refurbishments are lovely and more modern. Most of the guests were middle aged British couples, but my husband and I (as twenty-something Americans) met some other younger folks and very much enjoyed getting to know the other visitors...including one group that had been coming back to East Winds for 16 years!

We have traveled a lot and usually say that we'd rather visit new places than return to ones we've already seen, but East Winds is an exception. It was worth every penny we spent, and we'll definitely be back in the future!

Hey Guys

Thanks so much for the lovely review and also for planning to come back. We really enjoyed meeting you and I am so happy that you feel able to recommend us to all those honeymooners!

Don't forget to come back and see us again, East Winds will be happy to be your St Lucian home, perhaps you will be one of those repeat guests that keeps coming back. I hope so!

Judith

Only roughly 30 cottages, lower number furthest from beach, pool, and restaurant. Lovely guest but crowds are bit more seasoned. The staff is incredibly accommodating and I do not believe I ever heard the word no. Even when the wife and I wanted to take a bottle of champagne on the Hobe-cat for afternoon sail, they walked over the bucket of ice and two plastic flutes. Everyone of the staff was helpful and always had a smile. They have actives everyday some Included in price and only 3 not included. Check the itinerary prior to booking so as not to miss things such as there cultural grill out on the beach followed by them taking guest to town that evening to experience local cultural street party. Saturdays they take you to local shopping excursion (this is all included). If you want to party and meet singles this is not it, but if you want complete quiet relaxation and be taken care, this is it. They have one restaurant and the food mainly hit the mark. There were only few misses. Also asked for Paul to drive you from airport and back, $90/way. He is very nice and always in for lively chat, he generally uses a Lexus LS.

Room Tip: Get a cottage with fridge on patio (lower part of garden most ideal), always stocked with beer, soda, natural and sparkling water.

Yes, but by now it's the minutiae that become important! The new bathrooms in the colonial-style bungalows were long overdue and are a great improvement, complete with magnifying mirror, though with nowhere to hang your wet swimming gear! The beach drinks service, which was introduced last year but failed to appear, was spot on this year with regular morning and afternoon visits. Having done most of Simeon's tours last year we were delighted by the addition of a new one, taking in a wonderful doctor's house above Rodney Bay with fantastic views, and a hike round Pigeon Island. The exclusive sunset cruise remains a highlight, and, most important, for the first time ever, my wife's fairly modest diabetic diet requirements were actively met. Our initial strong disappointment that the previous Canadian manager had dispensed with the steel band - a Saturday lunchtime highlight - turned to joy when Judith, the current MD, reacted immediately and brought them back. In fact, they then featured on the web site! It must be a major challenge trying to continue to please the many aging multiple returnees while attracting the next generations....but it still seems to be working. What's the best bit? Being greeted with what feels like genuine friendship and many hugs, by the ever-faithful staff who have had a pretty traumatic couple of years but still emerge smiling! Good on you all.

Room Tip: All rooms are great, though the deluxe have better outside seating.

Hi David

Many thanks for the review. After so many visits it must be tricky to find different things to say but I think you have captured our efforts to evolve while maintaining our warm Caribbean family house party style.

Thank you for the kind comments about the new refurbishments, I am really delighted that you like them. I am looking forward to seeing you on your next visit.

Happy New Year!
Warm Wishes
Judith

PS: Next time just ask for a clothes airer, we have them for any guests who would like one!

We read all the trip advisor reviews- my other half is something of a cynic and did not believe all the reviews he read- but wow was he wrong.
From the moment we arrived the staff went the extra mile to make our stay magic. Our first experience was a welcome bottle of bubbly wine and some chocolates. The room we were allocated (14) had been recently refurbished, the shower room is superb, with lovely white fluffy towels and good quality soap and creams.
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, the table on our patio had a slight wobble, this was reported to the reception and by the time we were back in our room it had been sorted.
Whoever chooses the wines is amazing, we did not have a duff wine. The food is excellent-barbequed lobster was my favourite. Once a week the duty chef runs a cookery lesson. Also once a week Sylvanus the gardener shows residents around the beautiful gardens. Whichever staff member you meet is always friendly and polite.
I have never known an hotel that has as many people returning- we only got back today and I'm working on my other half for us to return.

It was our first visit to Eastwards but we hope it will not be our last. At the risk of repeating the praise that everybody has already lavished upon East Winds, I must say the service, food, accommodation and tropical gardens are quite superb. All members of staff from every department are so friendly, efficient and cannot do enough for all the guests. The rooms and public areas have recently been upgraded to a high standard. Luxury boutique resort is an excellent description for East Winds. If you want a small resort for a relaxing holiday with low key entertainment, this is the place for you. We can't wait to return.

Room Tip: Deluxe cottages have a larger bathroom and terrace, but the smaller superior cottages are also very nice. All have A/C and fan.
