Owner description: Evoking the era of the sugar barons of Puerto Rico, this beautiful Spanish Revival mansion was built in 1930 for the Serrallés family, owners of the Don Q rum distillery.

You may have seen this place on the famous show Wear the Dress for a wedding. But let me tell you, the admission plus the tour was not worth the trip if you are staying in San Juan. As you arrive there are no parking facilities. You have to park alongside the road on a hill where cars speed like crazy. The museum (castle) does not have any clear signs of admission prices, tour hours and forget about getting a tour guide that speaks English. We finally saw a security guard and asked him where to get tickets. He was reluctant to help us saying no English. A person walking by was able to translate and indicated to go sit on a bench by the gates and wait for someone to come out and help us. The temp that day 100 degrees and had to wait for almost 1/2 hour for someone to come. Again no English signaling he will get someone who spoke English. The only tour guide said the tour could be in English or Spanish depending on the majority of people present for the tour. We were able to do the tour in English thanks to one additional visitor that showed up at the last minute. The tour guide spoke broken English and was on express mode not letting anyone read on plaques or general information about the site itself. Needless to say her explanations were brief and could hardly understand what she said. Let it be known it is expensive, the tour lasted maybe 15 minutes and was told we had to leave because they were having a wedding. Rude, rude, rude. Don't waste your money or time visiting this place

It is a place that gathers history. It is to know a little and to transport to the years of sugar cane in Puerto Rico. It has beautiful gardens, perfect for good photos. And for the residents of the idka a nice place to resluce weddings and quinceañeros.

First time going there and I must say that is historically amazing, it's basically one of the places that made Ponce throughout its beginnings to this day.

So much history of the Serralles family. I actually went here for a wedding and it was gorgeous. I love it.
