This will not be short as there is alot of things wrong with this place. First off we went away for a wedding and because they can not maintain their rooms at all our patio door lock did not work which we did not know and our room was broken into (we were main floor) by someone who worked there and knew we were away. Stole my Ipod that was in my luggage bag and two full packs of smokes that were left in suitcase and touched everything of ours all baby clothes and our clothes. Hotel took no responsability saying we should have told them the patio door lock was borken (we did not know it was, we thought it worked).
Lots of misquitos in the room, the light fixture in the bathroom was falling out of the ceiling. walls were dirty, my pillow case had blood spatter on it.
The power in our room would not stay on, we had a 10month baby with us. It kept shutting off every minute or so. Had no clock in the room as that was broken too.
Staff not very friendly. Really bad at service in restaraunt. They would run out of food, not ask you if you wanted anything to drink.
I could go on and on, This is a very bad place to stay at and I WOULD NOT reccomend this place to anyone. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!

Room Tip: Higher floors have less chance of getting broken into!!!!!

This is a very big resort. There is alot of walking & stairs to go to bars or beach or eating.
The food was good especially the omelet cook & the smoothies. There was also lots of fruit to choice from. We also loved the Japanese restaurant. That was the only ala carte that we could get into to but it was so good. We also loved the jerk chicken restaurant by the big beach.
We went on an excursion to Rockland Bird Sanctuary where we feed hummingbirds out of our hands. It was a once in a lifetime experience. We also went to the Turtle River falls where we saw alot of awesome falls & we also feed the different birds. It was alot of fun and there was no crowds at either place & no one was trying to sell you anything. We hired Kevin Morrison Taxi Service to take us. Very professional & a very nice guy. His email address is -- & phone # is --. His website is jamaica-travels.com. He is very trustworthy & his vehicle was spotless. He took us to a restaurant called Scotchies. An awesome place to eat and not expensive.
The beach to the left of the resort was very nice & was warmer than the pool. There is lots of snorkeling especially in front of the hotel.
The shops were okay but they pretty well all the same stuff in each one. The steel band from Kingston was amazing. They had so much energy & their music was awesome.
We only saw one other entertainment Michael Jackson & it was good too.
They don't have anything else to do at the resort other than at the pool they have the entertainment staff doing their stuff to keep you amused. I know they had the sports bar but it didn't open from 3-6. No one knew what time it was suppose to open.
They need a spot to play billards or shuffleboard or shooting air rifle or archery. It was boring during the day if you didn't want to stay by the pool or stay at the beach.
The rooms were very nice & kept clean & we had clean towels each day.
All in all it was an good time but we'd never go back again just because of the size & not much else to do but beach & pool.

Just returned from GBP. Overall, it was a good vacation and the weather was perfect. The resort is quite large but I have stayed at much larger (Gran Bahia and Sandos in Mexico and the Ocean Blue in Punta Cana). We were in the 2300 block (the "new section") but did not have an oceanview. No worries though as all we pretty much did was shower and sleep in the room. There are carpets in the hallways, which to me is somewhat weird as I would think tile would be easier to keep clean. They are a bit stained, but then again I don't vacation in the hallway. The rooms were spacious and clean. Our maid, Anne-Marie, was awesome. If I needed more towels, she would get more towels, more coffee....not a problem. We had face cloths in our bathroom, which I never used, but others said they didn't have any in their rooms. Seems to be kind of hit and miss as to which rooms get them. The drain in our shower was plugged when we had our first showers, but I just went to the desk to ask if it could be fixed and didn't have a problem with it again.

From our room to the far end of the beach was approximately a 10 minute walk. The beach was okay. We have been to Negril where the beaches are much nicer, but then again this is a man made beach and from reading previous reviews, we knew what to expect. There are elevators but we never bothered to use them. We tried to work off our drinks and food by taking the stairs.

We ate at 3 a la cartes. The Grill was by far the best. Don Pablo was also very good as was the Japanese although we didn't get the show. The food in the buffet was not very good. We are by no means picky eaters but as noted in other reviews, it tended to be the same thing every night. Not much of a meat selection. We have had much better buffets at other resorts. The jerk chicken at the beach buffet was excellent.

Never had a problem with any of the bar staff and the drinks were great. Garrick (aka Samuel Jackson) at the swim up bar was our favourite. He would have our drinks ready by the time we swam across the pool.

The staff were very friendly, some more than others. The only thing that really bothered my husband and I were the lifeguards at the beach. Everytime we would walk past they'd ask us to fill up their mugs with beer. They were constantly asking others as well and it became quite annoying....don't think they'd be saving anyone after all that beer. They also wanted us to leave our bubba kegs when we left and even asked my husband for his sandals. There's always a solution though.....we just moved further down the beach after the first 2 days.

Would I go back?....maybe for the right price, but otherwise probably not. We prefer the Riu chain of hotels, but our tour company didn't offer the Riu. However, it is nice to try other resorts to see what others have to offer.

Although the food in the buffet left something to be desired (and we were far from starving), your vacation is only what YOU make of it. So go relax, enjoy, soak up some sun and don't sweat the small stuff.

Room Tip: Rooms in the 2300 block are further away from the entertainment and the noise.

This is just what you would expect from a gran bahia - We have stayed at 3 or 4 GBP hotels over the yeas and they all have good food, nice rooms, big pools and half decent service. This hotel is about 40 minutes from the airport. The snorkelling right in front of the hotel was great. You can get bread from the buffet to feed the fish. The small snorkelling beach is hard on the feet as it is man made but a great place to hang out.
There is also a large beach the the left side of the hotel that has great sand and nice swimming waters.
The Jerk chicken is great at the buffet if you dont mind waiting in line, go before 12 noon to get a better shot.
Deffinetly a 4+ star hotel. - Dont fall for the free gift at the lobby trick, it is a time share invite.... Service could be a bit better - no one is in a big rush to help or get you a drink in the lobby bar.
Great vacay for the price...

Room Tip: Pay a bit extra for the ocean view - It is stunning.

No one can please all the people all the time! With that said, this resort is in the upper 95 percentile. A1

Every room in the resort is equal. There is no additional room upgrade. There are however; service upgrades ie. Diamond or Royal Golden. We highly recommend the royal golden upgrade, but have also never participated in the diamond.

This was our 4th return, in the past 8 yrs. Although we try to use Bahia exclusively because of their attention to detail and service. It is nice to try others. The bench mark we use is the Gran Bahi Jamaica and it always draws us back.
Although a large complex, almost all rooms, wherever you are have ocean front/view. This is a major upgrade elsewhere if you can get it.
The beach to the side of the hotel, although not Punta Cana or Cancun, is GREAT! The serpentine pool is extremely large and winds throughout the complex. Pristine and well maintained.
The restauraunts and food are definitely 5 star. 5 PLUS STAR for DonPaublo and Mikado.
Everyone is treated like royalty from the time you arrive at the front desk and throughout your vacation. The majority of people we interacted with were very pleased. Staff are well trained, pleasant and friendly. "NO PROBLEM" is definitely paramount at this facility.
Entertainment is well above average with something for everyone. The hugh atrium expands into an oceanfront patio both covred and open. Again providing exceptional services.

The spa is also, 5STAR + and a must to do!

During this stay the hotel was 100% booked and except for the number of guest, you would never know it. NO Lineups and continuous great service.
All levels of Management are visible, interactive and available ensuring the expectations are met. Value received is exceptional. Many we talked to were either returning or plan to return patrons.
Although the adventure of seeing other places is alluring, it is hard for us not to return to this resort. Especially when vacation time is precious.
No one should be disappointed at this resort it is exceptional!
The remoteness of the facility, from Ocho Rios and Montego Bay would be the only downside if you are looking to be in town or city, shopping etc. All tours however are provided.

Room Tip: Email ahead to resort and state your preference and reasons. All rooms are A1.
