We only spent one night here, but I can't think of a more chilled, laid back, relaxed place to stay near the ocean. We had the windows open and went to sleep with the sound of the sea crashing on the rocks below.
We stayed in the Villa Grande, which has 2 bedrooms and a shared bathroom - we being husband (me), wife, and mother-in-law. It was high, so caught the breeze. We had fans, and with the breeze, air-conditioning was unnecessary (and there was none anyway). There are wooden shutters, and a big, long veranda (our room had a photo of Noel Coward sitting on our veranda). I understand that it was his bed we slept in.
There's not much to it, so it depends upon what you want. Don't expect mod-cons. There's no wifi or TV in the room (but there is power to charge phones and camera batteries). Our shower wasn't even what you would call warm - cool, but not freezing, water. Roy and Leroy made us coffee in the morning (sugar but no milk) - but then we didn't pay for breakfast - just a very reasonable price for a bedroom each, with a comfortable bed. Plus, I got to swim in Noel Coward's salt water pool! The list of rich and famous who have stayed here - from movie stars to Royalty - is intriguing.
Leroy and Roy were happy to chat, and carried our heavy bags to and from the on-site parking bay.
It's not difficult to find from the main road - there's a good signpost as you come around a bend, right at the turn off, just past the sign with the exclamation mark, so be alert! Once you are on the short road to Blue Harbour, don't carry on down the track as we did, it's the first driveway.
Email communication regarding the booking was good, from start to finish. We paid cash on arrival, in $US.
To me, Blue Harbour is like that old 1960's beach house that I used to stay in as a kid. Comfortable but not glamorous.
