Blue Harbour was built by Noel Coward on a rock adjacent to the sea and offers spectacular views and a warm welcome to its guests. We resided in Villa Chicka for 3 nights and the room was comfortable and basic with a great view of the ocean. Breakfast was served up every morning by Candy, and it was varied and always tasty. Our host Leroy, rasta Roy and Pancho were always very helpful and kind. We had a flat tire and the guys came out to change it for us and brought us to a tire repair shop after. One could walk up to Firefly and spend a few hours just taking in the views from Noel Coward's house. Blue Harbour has a wonderful swimming pool (salt water) where you can relax and read. It is simple and basic and there is no bar, there are no TV's but there are a lot of books around. It is not a place to go to with very small children as it really is built very close to the sea. But if you are looking for a unique experience and you don't mind a pure and simple experience it really is the place to go to.

There is something magical about Blue Harbour. The amazing history that surrounds this place, it's incredible views and the sea salt water pool. It is a healing place, Noel Coward always said he felt peaceful at Blue Harbour and we did as well. We stayed at Villa Chica with it's intimate surroundings and gorgeous views of the ocean but all the other villa have incredible views of the ocean as well. The one thing you won't get at those large resorts is the sense that you are staying with family.Leroy was always asking if everything was alright, Roy is a wealth of knowledge about the community and if you want to try authentic Jamaican cuisine you don't have to go anywhere else. Candy is the most amazing cook. We considered eating elsewhere but quickly decided that we had finest chef in town, everything she made us was delicious and amazing. Everyone made us feel at home and relaxed. Before we had to leave we were already planning our next trip back. We can't wait.

My friend and I stayed for three days and had a super time - Leroy and Roy were great hosts and very friendly and knowledgable, the accommodation was superb we had the two bedrooms in the mian villa with terrific views really beautiful - the pool was only ever occupied by us and is delightful and relaxing...cannot praise enough complete chill out - we went to local supermarket and cooked for ourselves each evening - thoroughly recommend.

This was my fourth trip to Blue Harbour, and was initiated by a friend who had heard me talk so much about it that he insisted that he had to go experience it himself. He was not disappointed. The same timeless charm still enveloped it; the setting is unsurpassable, the delicious food features fresh-caught fish and seasonal fruits and vegetables, and the constant, gentle breezes, clear air, and salt water pool make it impossible not to feel totally relaxed and care-free. In addition, the place still carries the aura of the time when Noel Coward entertained some of the most well-known celebrities in the world there, and "Firefly", his final home and resting place is just a short walk from Blue Harbour and well worth the visit.

Room tip: Villa Chica is the ideal secluded bungalow for a romantic getaway, but my personal choice is the upper floor of the main house (it is the highest elevation on the property) with its magnificent panoramic views, ample wrap-around veranda, and comfortable, well-ventilated rooms.

f you want an authentic Jamaican experience, go to Blue Harbour. My husband and I have been going to Blue Harbour for 20 years. We counted on our passports and think it has been 8 times. We discovered the charm and history of Blue Harbour through a chance meeting by our sister and the owner. Once we went, we were hooked. This was Noel Coward's place that he built in the late 40s and many of the movie stars of the day would come there to party and hang out. It is in a beautiful spot about 30 minutes from Ocho Rios. The charm of this place cannot be denied. Even though, it is not a luxury hotel, no A/C (don't need it), no jet skis, etc..., all meals are local and fresh and awesome made by Candy. It is a BYOB. We normally stop at the store to get supplies for the week to keep in our room on our way from the airport, The gardens and walkways are very well kept and lovely. The folks working here have been here for 20-25 years including Leroy, the manager, Candy, the cook, and Roy, the gardener and local Rasta. If you want privacy and a lovely salt water pool, but don't care about all the fancy schmancy hotel ammenities, this is the place for you. You are immersed in the local culture of Jamaica, which is what we love about this place. A reservation is a must if you want meals to be part of the stay. Prices are very reasonable. We usually hire a driver to take us on day trips. This time we went to 9 Mile, home of Bob Marley and also where he is interred. It was awesome. Contrary to popular beliefs, the Jamaican people are some of the warmest and loving people we have ever met. It is our private little paradise.. Go there!! Thanks Michele for keeping Blue Harbour going. It is a very special place.

Room tip: There are 3 villas to choose from, Villa Chica is very private and where Marlene Dietrich used to stay, Villa Rose is for larger groups and Villa Grande is above the main house and was Noel Cowards sleeping quarters. All have great views, breeze and privacy.
