Review of Moby Dick - CLOSED

We were taken here by Karen from JCE (Jamaica Cultural Exchange) tours and let me tell you...it was an amazing experience. First of all, this small restaurant is located in the heart of busy downtown Kingston - but the business section. Second, it is run by Muslims. This was my first time experiencing real Islamic people from Middle Eastern origins in Jamaica. I had no idea. I was suitably impressed. The other thing? They spoke in the local dialect (if you have ever heard an Asian or White person speak the deep county accented local dialect, you understand my fascination). Third, they prepared the best curry chicken I ever had. OMG!! If you like your food spicy or real home-cooked (not geared towards the 'foreign' palate) then you have to dine at Moby Dick at least once during your visit to Jamaica. This is a real hidden gem and I am so glad to have experienced this place. I highly recommend it to anyone. Oh, and it is very affordable. Bonus!!

I just adore their roti and curry. Seriously the menu is varied and you cannot go wrong with any choice you make if you are a lover of spicy foods.

the curry goat nice nice, nice. I eat there when I am tired on my canteen food I work very close. In Jamaica we repeat the adjective when the food good bad that is exceptional

The place is in lower town Kingston in a less than appealing neighbourhood. Parking is a serious challenge though some street lads will help find a spot. Dull dark and not conducive to anything worthwell. Well wrong! Curried conch, white rice, fried plantain, roti... To die for... Not a scrap left on either of our plates. Jamaican style/speed service... But worth it.

I asked for the curried goat to be extra spicy, and the wait person (family staffed) told me that it will already be plenty spicy....she was right, and it was delicious! After 2 servings of their homemade fruit punch, I left Moby Dick feeling verrrrry satisfied! Oh, and the Jamaican style roti is a must have!
