Our first time at a Club Med and this was the exact family beach vacation we wanted!
*The beach is beautiful, sand is white, and it was so nice to have the palm trees for shade rather than umbrellas.
*Chef de village - Club Med is lucky to have Théo, he was everywhere no matter the day or time. He even performed in the circus show which was a WOW. You can tell this club is well run. Everyone (or almost) appeared to want to be there and happy to be working, a rare accomplishment. The GOs have amazing energy, smiling and chatting with clients.
*Food & drinks - excellent, after 12 days we still felt we had options. Friendly hosts, servers and staff. Bar tenders were always smiling and a couple even got to know our daughter’s preferred drink. The sous-chef was kind enough to make sure we knew they were going to change position of the ginger chicken that my daughter loved when it came up in the rotation next.
*Room - clean, AC worked well and bathrooms were very spacious which was nice.
*Activities - always something to do! Nice to have the schedule on the app as well.
A special mention to the circus team who not only performs amazingly but was excellent with our son who at first was scared to try the flying trapeze even though he wanted to, and ended the trip wanting us to find one back home! (Daniel aimerait vous dire qu’on est allé à un cours aujourd’hui et il a réussi à passer ses jambes sur la barre et lâcher ses mains! Un des moniteurs connaît Fabien de ses jours au club med il y a plusieurs années).
*As for the less positive if we want to be picky, we wished there were more time-slots to learn and go on catamaran rides as a family - they made it seem like it was a favour for the kids to come with me rather than during the kids’ club time slot, not all kids are comfortable going to the club. Some of the staff could be more flexible, especially when the resort is not full and could allow more family time at activities rather than kids vs adults…
*Overall, amazing time and we hope to be back!

The ala cart restaurant had very poor food. The buffet was good. The bar service was okay but they seemed to think 1/2 oz was a shot. The resort is a bit run down in some areas. The location is great, could not be better but the resort is very over priced for what you get.
The site is beautiful.. the club has one of the nicest beach of the Island, well kept and very clean...the water is beautiful. The Zen pool is a delight to be at. Some of the staff are not very flexible but overall everyone was accommodating and pleasant to be around.. Le Chef di Village was very involved and even participated in some shows. Even though the variety of food was limited, it was pretty good and fresh. The ceviche and fish tartare are a must!
Not the right place for Americans. We have mainly been at Punta Cana Club med and have loved the level of services, the many activities for the kids as well as the entertainment. Nome of these can be said about La caravelle. I gave it a 3 star because Club Med is always consistent with the variety and range of food choices as well as the truly great beach. The beach is clean and crystal clear but it is a public beach and water activities are very limited. Signing up for sailing lesson is needlessly stressful..sign up at 9 for the same day, and classes only run from 9:45-11am. Also they are closed between Noon -2p and again close at 5p.
There are not enough staff to help with much. They count the beach towels like you would count beans...staff asked me to return 3 towels if I was asking for 3 new towels. OJ for breakfast is seldomly available, and you have to chase coffee. Our "suite" had murky water in the coffee machine with ants swimming..The bottom lime is that most Europeans put up with a level of mediocrity that most , if not all traveling Americans would not. Would definitely not return.

You have told us about your disappointment with the cleanliness of your coffee machine at your arrival and we are sorry to hear that everything has not been done to offer you the best comfort. The well-being of our G.M is our priority, so we send your comments to the department concerned and the Village Chief so that they take into account.
