The Choo Light Chinese restaurant, 50 yards from the Calabash Hotel in Lance aux Epines, is been there for decades. Scores of locals and students & staff from the nearby university campus grab meals 'to go'. Others dine on the open air terrace where service is quick and friendly and meals are reasonably priced. Don't expect 'haute cuisine', this is a basic Chinese restaurant.

It was so nice to find a Chinese restaurant close by. It has a laid back atmosphere, quiet and sedate. Food was good and inexpensive. They were polite and friendly.

This family owned and run Chinese restaurant has been established for well over 15 years. It is very popular with locals and visitors alike. Locals tend to dash in and pick a pre-ordered meal 'to go', visitors usually sit under the wide porticoed terrace. TIP - sit nearer the rear to be away from the car park and traffic noise.
Food is a typical mixture of western Chinese fast food. It's not haute cuisine but is promptly served and served with a smile.
The location on the main road is 10-12minutes walk from the Prickly Bay marina or 3-5 minutes from the nearby up-market hotels. Always reliable and at very reasonable prices.

We ate out at Choo Lights a couple of times. The first time it was excellent with tasty food, large portions and good service. The next few times it was not so good. Slow service, my chicken noodle dish was served cold although I think it had been warm at some point and all the food arrived at different times. Granted that there were quite a few of us the second time (9) but the restaurant was not busy although there was a steady stream of take out business. We went back again, just 4 of us but again, cold food and slow service. Not sure if I would chance it again on our next trip back to Grenada.

If you have never been to mainland China you could never appreciate the truly authentic feel and atmosphere the Choo Light delivers. All fresh local vegetables and provisions (except for the rice I guess) mean you have Sweet and Sour Lambi (conch). This was one of the best Chinese dishes I have had--ever. The use of fresh local ingredients means the Hot and Sour is not an unnatural brown color--lighter than expected, but both Hot and Sour yet with that rare quality of being able to taste each of the other ingredients individually. The large open outdoor patio is simply wonderful on a breezy evening to blow away the mosquitos (not a complaint--just a reality in Grenada). They also do a brisk take-away business. Worth the time and money if you are looking for a cross-cultural local adventure.
