We ate out at Choo Lights a couple of times. The first time it was excellent with tasty food, large portions and good service. The next few times it was not so good. Slow service, my chicken noodle dish was served cold although I think it had been warm at some point and all the food arrived at different times. Granted that there were quite a few of us the second time (9) but the restaurant was not busy although there was a steady stream of take out business. We went back again, just 4 of us but again, cold food and slow service. Not sure if I would chance it again on our next trip back to Grenada.

If you have never been to mainland China you could never appreciate the truly authentic feel and atmosphere the Choo Light delivers. All fresh local vegetables and provisions (except for the rice I guess) mean you have Sweet and Sour Lambi (conch). This was one of the best Chinese dishes I have had--ever. The use of fresh local ingredients means the Hot and Sour is not an unnatural brown color--lighter than expected, but both Hot and Sour yet with that rare quality of being able to taste each of the other ingredients individually. The large open outdoor patio is simply wonderful on a breezy evening to blow away the mosquitos (not a complaint--just a reality in Grenada). They also do a brisk take-away business. Worth the time and money if you are looking for a cross-cultural local adventure.

The food is as good as or better than any Asian food restaurant we have visited in our travels. This is evidenced by the brisk and continuous demand of their take-out service.

The vegetables used in their food is locally grown where ever possible and picked daily. As a result, their Hot & Sour was delicious with the fresh vegetables having firm texture and retaining their individual flavours enhanced by their moderately hot broth. They make their eggs rolls daily with their own crisp shell wrapped around a unique combination of fresh vegetables. The Cantonese fried rice as well as the beef and vegetables was as good as any we've tasted.

Service on the night we were there was excellent. Our server was friendly and had a good sense of humour to lighten the evening. In spite of the aforementioned brisk take-out demand and with half the tables occupied, we did not have to wait long for our food.

This is one of the most affordable restaurant meals in Grenada.

Choo Light offers fresh Cantonese food prepared well most of the time. The service is always great and friendly, but the food unfortunately can be hit or miss. However, when it is a hit it is a HIT (we had a really bad miss, but let's focus on the positive)! We enjoyed the shrimp fried rice with plump shrimp and pieces of grilled zucchini with just enough soy sauce. The portions are huge for a very fair price, $28 ECD for shrimp fried rice, while egg fried rice only came to $10 ECD (around $3-$4 US). We decided on takeaway, but they have an outdoor dining area and a very small inside dining area. It is located in Lance aux Epines and is right next door to Red Crab and Junction restaurants. It is also walking distance to the Calabash resort. Overall, good place for cheap eats with a Cantonese flair.

We've eaten at Choo Light quite a few times. The food is repetitive and predictable but sometimes okay - if it's not too salty. The service however is unpredictable. Customers have come in after us and been served before us, though we're only two. Other times we get served quickly. There are never many customers eating in the restaurant; they do a busy takeaway service and also deliver, which tends to take priority over customers wanting to eat on the premises. The last time we were there, a couple had already waited 40 minutes for their food and we waited 20 minutes before our order was taken. If you're not in a hurry, delays can be forgiven, especially in a relaxed environment like Grenada, but not the two bouts of upset stomach, or the stone chip [the size of a piece of gravel] one of us found in our food. Thankfully the stone was 'felt' before biting down on it, otherwise there would have been an expensive dentist's bill. We showed the owner the stone chip, and with a deadpan face she offered to take $10 off the bill, which we though was hilarious. We go there only if we're desperate and can't get in anywhere else. In such a hot climate we do wonder what happens to the uneaten food in the kitchen. Best not to go there unless it looks busy. What you DO get at Choo Light is a really cold, thirst-quenching Carib beer; they keep their glasses in the freezer. You can't beat that!
