Having travelled throughout the Caribbean in the aftermath of Irma and Maria pleasantly surprised. Restaurant very good but disappointed that few things in the menu weren’t available but that’s island life.

Given the enormous challenge to get business back to normal after Hurricane Maria, this hotel has done a great job. There was a lot of new staff that was still in training, large parts of the hotel were still under repair, restaurant items were occasionally unavailable... a challenge that existed all over the island. But overall the facilities available were in good shape, the new dining room and lower lounge area are a terrific upgrade since pre-storm, and the staff was lovely. Any short comings identified were readily resolved it at all possible by staff members who were excellent. The restaurant staff was in particular a pleasure to deal with. Given the location of this hotel ( waterfront and right down town) and the effort to provide a good experience, I would happily return.

Since hurricane Maria the Hotel has been undergoing some renovations. The fort side of the hotel has been destroyed but the other side has been restored and improved.

The room I stayed in was 201 that had a great view from the balcony. However the room is close to the restaurant and first floor bar so you can hear music and see staff in morning cleaning up. The room was well kept and the staff were attentive to our needs. The bathroom could use some updating as the bathtub area has seen better days. A nice glass standup shower would be great.

The restaurant was renovated and had the grand opening when we were at the hotel. The food was Great!!! From the bakes and fish for breakfast to the soups and Lion fish for diner. The hotel staff were always polite and attentive to request however food prep times are a bit long. I waited over 2 hours for a pizza one day and staff did not come over to check if I needed another drink. A special thanks to Henry who saw many of the situations that frustrated myself and my family and managed to resolve many of the issues and accommodate us.

The pool area is still one of the hotels best attractions as there is a hot tub and sizable deck HOWEVER I stayed at the hotel for 2 weeks and the bar next to the pool was never open. I would have purchased many drink if the bar was open. In addition the slow service of calling the main bar to walk drink over forced us to visit a local store to buy a few bottles as the service once again was extremely slow.

All said the hotel appears to be in a state of staff training and staffing shortage. However I would definitely stay here again.

Special thanks once again to Henry, Kurtney and all the staff that made this trip memorable.

I visited Fort Young Hotel and restaurant before. But the major recent rebuilding, redesigning, and total upgrade of their facilities is very impressive. The restaurant is now simply amazing, finished with fine wood in a modern and elegant style, with extended outdoor terrace. Simply stunning. The staff is mostly the same, experienced and friendly. And the cooking which is major part of any restaurant experience is definitely more interesting now. Their new chef came from Jamaica - a country known for 5-star customer service. and it shows, also in flavours. I do recommend checking it out.

Even though undergoing renovations on some areas following the passage of Hurricane Maria in 2017, the hotel is a truly great option if visiting Dominica. Well trained and very friendly and helpful staff who ensure that you have a great stay. Local cuisine is offered in addition to international fare. It's location in the capital city and on the waterfront is truly convenient and offers some lovely views.
