I am only giving this hotel two stars because I enjoyed the country. This hotel was expensive and the hotel was very disappointing. Lots of bugs and I can't recommend it to anyone.

On a positive note, the servers were nice.

The diving was great. The Dive center staff very kind and helpful. Dive sites were really nice. Food was poor (always the same menu and pricey), most of the guests didn't dine at the hotel. The reception staff although friendly are not very reliable. Overall service was not organized, had to insist on getting service and activities that were booked. Overall a bit overpriced for the service received.

The hotel is indeed dated. If they do major renovations it would be such an amazing place.
The staff is great especially Shama and the other ladies at reception.
The food was okay. The menu was very limited and pricey! It's also in a great location. I would definitely return..

Dear Lenece,

Thank you for choosing the Anchorage as your home away from home and for sharing your feedback. We appreciate the review and are are currently in the process of working on renovations as well as the meal options.

It was indeed a pleasure hosting you for your birthday and we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

Really enjoyed my stay here. The place is a bit dated but extremely clean! The staff is very friendly and tend to your every needs. The food is good here too. If you want an at home feel and you are tired of the big hotel commercial stay, then this is the place to stay! Whale watching tour is great!!! This is on the oceanfront but you cannot really bathe here as there is no beach. If you are a swimmer you can bathe off the pier.

I thought the place was great. Not fancy but perfect for what we want. We went to dive. The Anchorage is hotel with diving available, rather than a dive company but we had a good experience. We were a group of 4 and our dive boat was a 75' catamaran. Pretty chi chi. If you are interested in a trip to Dominica see our not for profit blog havecarryonwilltravel.com. The diving was very good. The coral is in good shape, the sponges are plentiful and huge, and there is lot so wildlife. The hotel itself is plain but nice. Our room was a good size with two queen beds. The beds were firm but not rock hard. The shower was huge, the towels fluffy. The view from our deck was perfect over the Caribbean waters. The deck faced west so was a bit hot in the late afternoon. We utilized other seating at that time of the day. The lapping waves lulled us to sleep each night. The pool is cleaned daily if not more often. The breakfast was continental but there was enough to eat to last the morning. The wifi is very strong, it seemed as fast as home. Unusual for the islands. A place is often defined by the staff and the folks that work for Anchorage are great. The front desk staff is polite, happy and helpful. The wait staff is friendly and truly concerned about what is being presented. The dive staff is casual yet professional. I really enjoyed the people there. Most definitely stay there again on a return trip to Dominica.
