We are still at Acoya, checking out tomorrow. We have a 3 bedroom villa with a private pool. The villa was clean and the kitchen well stocked with appliances. We had breakfast every day at the restaurant on property. The breakfast is buffet, and there is an egg station. We also used the free shuttle to the supermarket. Things to note: the villa is 220v so the wall plugs are the European 2 round prong type. There are also no screens on the Windows. It's European so no face clothes are provided, and the bedroom and bathroom lights are dim. But,Front desk provided adapters free of charge, and drawing the curtains let in plenty of light. There's not much within walking distance, but good restaurants are a short drive away, about $15 by taxi. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly. We will definitely stay here when we return to Curaçao.

When you arrive you will immediately notice the lovely well kept grounds of this property off the beaten path. The property is 2 years old so everything looks new and pretty. Staff is always pleasant....
BUT there is lots of room for improvement at this property. Staff needs more training. While always pleasant, many don't seem to know what their job actually is. We were checked in by a lovely young lady who we later learned was an intern. She clearly wasn't ready to be flying solo. She didn't cover a number of items that we had to find out the hard way. For example, she didn't tell us nor charge us the lodging tax that is mentioned on the website. 4 days later another front desk person ask us when we were going to pay the tax that we were never asked about. We were treated, in a pleasant tone, as if we had overlooked our responsibility.
There is a lovely smallish infinity pool that closes at 7pm. This rule is inconsistently enforced. Adults were repeatedly told to get out the pool by a man in a security outfit one evening and then another night small children were playing loudly in the pool till after 9pm.
Housekeeping says they clean the room daily and change the sheets twice a week. Their definition of cleaning and mine are quite different. The first two days they didn't arrive till 5pm and simply changed the towels. Mid-week my friend chased them down to ask them to change the sheets. They changed her sheets but not mine. They changed my sheets the next day but not the pillowcases. They have no wash clothes at this property. We were told by staff that this is because other guests stole the quantity they had. They never washed dishes or put dishes in the dishwasher for the week. And the check out directions explained that we needed to clean the kitchen before leaving or we would be charged a $50 fee. This explained to us way many of the dishes and silverware wasn't really clean when we checked in. Bottom line, you are at the mercy of the guests that stayed in your suite before you to leave the kitchen clean. The stove is extremely complicated. We had to have someone on staff come and show us how to turn it on. Every guest we spoke to also needed help with the stove. They don't have blenders in the units so don't plan to make smoothies.
There is a problem with the draining of the shower in the master bathroom. Despite having a staff person come up to fix it, plan to be standing in a few inches of water as you shower.
Stayed in a two bed/two bath unit. Second bedroom is quite small. Can't imagine how two people would be able to make that room work for them.
No activities are offered at the property. The gym has about 6 pieces of equipment.
Free shuttle to Mambo beach, Punta and grocery store daily. Shuttle was definitely functioning on "island time".
Restaurant food is quite good but the staffing is too light so it takes a long time to get served.
The welcome party and one happy hour lacked an appropriate quantity of snacks so don't come hungry.
I really wanted to like this place but left feeling like I didn't get my money's worth. Just too many small items that took away from a week set aside for relaxation.
Really pretty place so I hope the get better staffing and provide better service in the future.

Room Tip: Rooms in main building that overlook the pool are nice. Second building looks at construction site on the hill

The Unit- 2BR Suite with Kitchen, housekeeping turned down the unit daily, even did the dishes a few times. At first glance, bathrooms are poorly lit but at night its enough. The showers are small stalls, really meant for one. No baths. Toiletries are of cheap quality so buy your own, eg. Conditioner. No dish soap either. Beds are all twins pushed together, comfortable but awkward?

The Amenities - Not much really. Quite a small "infinity" pool that overlooks a small pond but location right in front of the restaurant is also awkward. Never used it for that reason. As far as we know, no gym facilities or anything else really. Looks like they are ramping up their in-house amenities but for the time being, kind lacking.

Overall - The resort is tucked away, somewhat removed from any immediate area attractions but with a rented car (which we highly recommend), location was not a problem. Overall resort is well kept but having been in some awesome resorts, we had higher expectations. Nonetheless, the island is really all about the beaches and food/drink so we found ourselves out and about most of the time, returning to base only for a shower and respite. Staff were friendly, no complaints there. Parking is free-for-all. Resort is gated and safe/secure.

This resort looks really good online, however the practices, facilities and experience is far from the experience indicated as advertised. We experienced problems from check in to check out. There was nothing that could make us want to return or recommend stay here.

The location of this resort leaves much to be desired. They have a so-called event center, which happens to be located in outside in the court so ALL of the guests are subjected to the LOUD live band & parties. We received a list of events during our stay, so there wasn't much we could do. Had we been made aware prior to our booking, we would have certainly selected another site.
No shower doors, only 2 aisles on stovetop work.... etc......
What a bad choice!!!!!!!

Room Tip: Not a good place, if you are expecting to rest and relax!

Hello,

We apologize for any inconvenience caused during your stay with us. To address our location. We are located in the heart of the island, minutes away from the island's most popular beach. When staying with us, you should get a free shuttle ride, plus entrance to the beach at no cost. About your event complaints, we have received some suggestions in the past from our guests to increase the number of activities and events around the resort. Therefore, we try to make Acoya a fun and active place, while striving to keep the tranquility and peace most of the other times. We are glad you have received a notifying letter about the events in advance, as we always make sure to let our guests know about any upcoming events, and also make sure that events finish on a proper time so that our guests can rest and have their sleep. About the stove and shower, we are the island's most modern and recent built resort. All of our amenities and tools should be in their finest condition. If you have any complaints about the shower or stove, we suggest for next time, you call our front desk and inform them. As we always inform our guests to call the front desk for any questions or concerns, which our dedicated maintenance department would've taken care of and given you something complimentary in return for the inconvenience.

We are glad to hear your complaints, and would like to inform you that they are filed! Hope to see you again very soon :)

Sunny Regards,
Pierre Subeh
