I am visiting the hotel quite often and the overall conditions of the Hotel both inside and outside, the structure is in a terrible condition. It seems that the restaurante of the hotel was closed in November last year and the hotel management should be changed as soon as possible. Other recommended hotels are on the oher sided of the bridge, like Hotel Otrobanda, the Howard Johnson and the Renaissance Hotel.

The ONLY good things about this place is the view and the staff!

It is extremely outdated, needs a paint job badly, the pool's floor was horrible - needs to be painted, the chair in the room was disgusting, chairs in the hallways are filthy, curtains were filthy, a/c worked, but looked like it was about to die, rusted walls and sinks, safe didn't work, no blow dryer, tv was from the 90's, and NO TELEPHONE!!!!!! You can't even call reception from your room. The telephone was there for decoration only. I will NEVER go back to that hotel again.

We were told it is the OLDEST hotel in Curacao - - they were NOT kidding!!!

Photos on the website are definitely from years ago because it does NOT look like that now!!!!!!

Room tip: view from 815 was nice

First, the good. The hotel is right in the downtown area and convenient to everything. Great view of the ocean and the town. We could walk everywhere. The staff was also very nice, and for the most part, helpful. Great waterfront restaurants right next door. Now , the needs improvement section. The whole place is dated. The room was clean but out of date. Lacked enough power outlets for the small, old fashioned box tv and had extension cords hanging down. No coffee pot, just a tea kettle. At least there was a fridge. We stayed 2 nights. The first night we had 2 bath towels and 1 bar of soap. No wash cloths, no hand towels, no shampoo, etc. the second night we only had one bath towel for both of us! Although they advertise free wifi, we could not get it from our room. Amenities were non-existent. If you are looking for a resort hotel, look elsewhere.

Located downtown, very close to the Emma bridge, a historical swing bridge. Quite an experience to see how the bridge swings open to let ships pass through. The hotel is also very near to Otrabanda. By walking on the bridge you reach the other side. As you step off the bridge, you have the Brion square with a supermarket, local restaurants (food is excellent) and the international well known fast food restaurants along the square. Also good to know, there is free wifi available on the Brion square. Strong signal! Awesome. Speaking about the hotel, the room is spatious and the A/C works perfectly. The view is also nice. But it's obvious that some investments are badly needed. e.g. towels are worn out. Wifi is very poor. As mentioned earlier, the big advantage of the Plaza Hotel is the location downtown. Shops, tour operators, restaurants are just around the corner. The rate for a standard room was about $ 100 per stay. A plus also was the quick responsiveness of the Service desk. The busterminals are also close to the hotel. If you want to go Seaquarium or Mambo beach just walk to the busterminal behind the market. The ride will costs just $ 2. All the busses have a plate with the destinations in front of the bus. Saves you a lof of money.

I visited Plaza Hotel with my mother in January 2009. We are from Suriname and my mom won a second price in a game and staying at Plaza for 4 nights was the price. We enjoyed our stay very much, because this hotel is located in the center of Punda and is near almost every great attraction. Our room view was more then amazing because we could see the water and bridge from Curaçao which connects Punda and Otrabanda. Every day when we opened our curtains we could see another cruise ship from our room. The food and the service was good also. They were renovating back then so we could not see every part of the hotel, but this did not bother us at all
