The room was huge with 18 foot high ceilings. The windows opened onto the interior courtyard so the room was quiet at night with zero traffic noise. The hotel service was friendly, courteous and very efficient. The American breakfast buffet was excellent and included custom omelets served with live music. The hotel porch is a wonderful place to order drinks or a meal and enjoy the culture of Havana passing by on the street.

Room Tip: Ask for an interior room to avoid traffic noise. However, street facing rooms offer balconies from w...

While there are few signs of ware and tear the hotel was clean, comfortable, great friendly helpful staff, amazing breakfast and in a really excellent location. I felt safe and comfy. Would stay there again anytime. The a/c wasn't powerful but more than adequate and I was there when it was in the 90F (33C)

Room Tip: Choose a room on the outside. While there is street noise, the windows block it out. The inner roo...

The Telegrafo is a stand-out building on the Parque Central with a bold blue facade. We stayed for four nights on arrival in Havana and have no complaints. The room was clean and a decent size and we were lucky enough to have a room with a balcony facing onto the square which was great for people/car watching. The windows were double glazed but you could still hear street noise so ear plugs would be advised for light sleepers. The breakfast was good with a wide selection, including fresh omlette making. The maids did a good job and did an artistic job with the towels and sheets each day which made us smile. The hotel is in a great location, very close to Calle Obispo and the main plaza's.

Straight from the pages of Graham Greene. I was looking round for spies!!! The hotel is atmospheric, the location is wonderful and the staff are friendly. You walk out the door right into the past into a world of Bogart and Cagney. Sitting on the terrace is like watching an unfolding period drama being played out before your eyes. We loved it

Room Tip: We stayed twice and had a different room on each occasion, both similarr but room 111 was very good

We recently stayed at the Telegrafo Hotel in Havana for two nights.
It is very central (Parque Central) close to the theatre and the Capitolio and from there it is very easy to reach the old town and visit the main tourist attractions.

It looks recently restored and the facade really catches the eye among the other old buildings. Our room had the view over the square so we had a lot of light but at the same time not much noise coming from the street as the windows were quite heavy and modern.
The room was very large with two double beds, marble floor, a minibar, a flat screen TV, a good size wall wardrobe with safe and a large marble style bathroom. The showerhead and sink taps were a bit old and worn out, but fully functional. It was clean and the bed was comfortable.
The breakfast was quite varied and acceptable. The only problem was that there were a limited number of plates and cereal bowels. Once run out, it took quite a while to have them replaced. It should have been better to have the various plates with food covered as there were few flies around.
There is a nice internal bar/cafe in a restored area showing an old structure where a band played live music but without being extremely loud or annoying.
The staff is ok but at time it was hard to catch their attention and their answers had a very ‘neutral’ and sometime coldish attitude. When we asked for clean plates it looked like we were annoying them.

In overall the hotel is pleasant and centrally located. It might miss the charm of more characteristic colonial buildings style hotels, but, from our experience, it is clean and comfortable.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
GeneralThe historic city hotel was established in 1860 and was then located on Calle Amistad. Around 1888, it was relocated to its present position on the busy corner of Prado and Neptuno streets. In 1911 the hotel was completely rebuilt, and when it reopened it was regarded by the press of the day as the most modern hotel in the city and ranked amongst the top eleven hotels in Latin America. The hotel of today combines modern and colonial elements in its architecture to create a wonderful unity of present and traditional styles. On offer are a total of 63 comfortable guest rooms with excellent views out over the city. The inner courtyard with the original brickwork of its arches forms an interesting contrast to the new design features. The hotel has a large ceramic mural in the form of a collage, showing elements of Havana's colonial architecture and a fountain which appears to magnify the courtyard and its surrounding ruins. There are 54 standard rooms, three suites, and six junior suites available, in addition to a lobby area with a reception desk manned around the clock, a hotel safe, a cloakroom, a currency exchange facility, and lift access. Guests at this air-conditioned establishment may also take advantage of the restaurant, the snack bar, shop. Also available here is room service (charges apply), a public Internet connection (charges apply), and parking for those arriving by car (charges apply). MasterCard and VISA are accepted as methods of payment.Surrounding AreaA famous institution in Havana since 1888, this hotel has since the early 20th century been considered one of the best in all Latin America. It lies directly beside the beach and is only a few minutes on foot from the ''Museo de Bellas Artes'', the ''Capitolio'', and the ''Gran Teatro de La Habana'', famous for presenting the best opera and ballet performances in the city.Property-InformationThe elegant hotel restaurant specialises in Cuban and international haute cuisine. Its decoration creates a unique place with a classical ambience, ready to welcome guests back at any time. Its appointment with modern furniture creates a timeless atmosphere in the halls with stained glass windows. The restaurant is situated on the ground floor of the building and offers guests a breakfast buffet or an individual breakfast, lunch à la carte, lunch from a set menu (offered for groups), and a set menu in the evening.Room-InformationAll rooms are fitted with an en suite bathroom with a bathtub and hairdryer, centrally regulated air conditioning, a double or king-size bed, cable TV, a telephone, a room safe, a minibar, and either a balcony or terrace as standard. ... more   less
