We stayed at Al Sol during Christmas and it was just like a home away from home.
The drive from/to the airport in a classic convertible was an awsome way to start/end our holiday :)
They go beyond hospitality, what we felt was friendship and genuine helpfulness. Thanks to Alessio and his gorgeous wife we gathered so much information about the places nearby, restaurants & things to do from the start.
The rooms are very big and modern (a rare find in Havana), the minibar has everything you might need, la casa is located close to every attraction you can think of.
They even helped us to find a transfer to Varadero when the collectivo we booked didn’t show up.
On this holiday we stayed in 5 places (hotels & casas) and Al Sol was by far the best.
Congratulations for what you do and thank you for everything!

We booked Al Sol on a bit of blind faith - it hasn’t been open that long so reviews were a bit scarce when I booked.

Let me be clear: this place is awesome.

Basically it’s a building in old Havana (which is 100% where you want to be) - the building doesn’t look like much but inside it’s been really nicely renovated with (I think) 3 large guest rooms. The rooms are huge and our room had a view over the convent next door (under restoration when we were there).

But what made our stay was the owner: Daymed. We needed a transfer from the airport, so he picked us up in his classic car. We needed help booking a tour to Vinales, so he walked us to the tourism office and sorted it for us. He sorted Internet for us (the place has wifi, you just have to buy cards to access, roughly $2 usd per hour) and was there each morning to serve breakfast (coffee, fruit and toast for free, you can pay extra for some other things).

Al Sol is just incredible though. There are still little issues (as theyre working out how to run a b&b type thing) but they get resolved fast and there are other benefits (for example the mini bar prices and their exchange rate is literally the prices you’ll pay outside the hotel, so it’s easy to sort things).

I couldn’t recommend this place more highly. It’s clean, it’s safe (as is Cuba in general, but we regularly got back late and still didn’t feel unsafe) super friendly. It’s 1 block from one of the most important squares and a great starting point to exploring old Havana.

Will book again 100%.

We stayed at Al Sol for a week over New Year. The location is very convenient and the property very clean and comfortable. We felt safe and well cared for. The breakfasts were simple but delicious and additional options were available, but the fruit and toast was plenty for us. The owners are charming and friendly and very helpful with local advice. The only thing we really missed was a window with natural light in our room. I think only one of the rooms has a window, the others don’t due to the layout of the property. But this is a very minor issue. We really enjoyed our stay!

Really lovely place to stay at and is not too far from the heart of Havana.
The couple that owns it was very welcoming and friendly and were a pleasure to meet.
They also arranged to pick us up from the airport when we landed and couldn’t be more helpful.
Definitely recommend as an amazing place to stay at whilst in Havana.

Alessio and Daymed are the most attentive, helpful and kindest hosts ever. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Totally recommend staying at their B&B. Their place is very well located for the old town's attractions, safe, clean, spacious, quiet at night, large, comfortable bed, hot shower, a minibar in the room, air conditioner in the room, good bed sheets and towels.
Wish we had stayed a little longer. Definitely it was a pleasure to have met them both.
We have just been to Havana (Nov 2019) and we loved it!!! Our last week in Varadero (sunny, clear warm waters of the Caribbean sea), having stayed a few days in Trinidad was a perfect ending to a lovely holiday.
Love YOU Cuba!!!
