Found the history of this hotel fascinating.
The Manager of the hotel was very helpful and could manage to communicate in English (which is not that common in Cuba).
Only down of our stay was the fact that my wallet was stolen - left on the couch in the lobby - returned 10 minutes later but gone. Security staff advised that their cameras (which were clearly in view) "did not reach that location". Found this a little strange. This put a dampener on our trip as up until that evening the visit to Havanna had been fascinating. The hotel was located on the Malecon which is so active with locals, Some good value cafe's close by also. Old Havanna is a short taxi ride. As others have mentioned the lobby area has no air conditioning which makes the bar area difficult to enjoy.More
