we stayed 15 days in Cuba. casa 1932 was the best that could have on the issue of residence. Luis and his family were from the wonderful people I met in Cuba. convenient in that we asked him, polite and above all cheerful!
breakfast and the food of the best we had in Cuba.
The house was very clean and very safe with 24 hour security!
I recommend unreservedly. thank you for all Luis gave greetings to the chef and your brother.

Unfortunately, we can't review the Casa 1932 because when we arrived, we didn't have a reservation. Despite getting three confirmations from a booking website, apparently it wasn't the Casa 1932 website. Luis admitted that he had a relationship with Pedro who took the booking - but there was no room as the street was all ripped up. Luis put us up in another house, but it wasn't nearly as nice. Make sure you book on his website which strangely enough is not Casa 1932, but something else.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. Unfortunately there are other 3rd party booking agents on the internet who sometimes appear as representing the actual property, but they do not.
Had you contacted us directly or the booking agent you used contacted us we could have told you that we were closed for the week due to construction on our block which disrupted the utility services for several days.
We apologize for the misunderstanding and would like to invite you to return on your next visit.

It's simple: if you are visiting Havana and you want to stay in a casa particular then Casa 1932 is just great. Luis is a very helpful host and keen to help his guests to make the most of their stay in Havana. [And he also provides the best breakfasts we had in trip to Cuba] Take advantage of a ride with Victor in his vintage Mercedes taxi from the airport - less than half the normal taxi fare. It's an excellent way to travel back in time to 1932 and then get Luis to tell you about the history of the casa and its contents. Delightful. We shall go back.

I booked into Casa 1932 after reading about it here on trip advisor and looking at the website. It didn't disappoint.
Luis and family couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. From the moment I arrived, and was greeted with a cup of tea, I felt at home.
This isn't a 5 star hotel - don't expect perfectly plastered walls and matching furniture, so i would say don't come here if that's what you want. And therein lies the charm of this beautiful, elegant, antique-filled house. It's got character by the bucket-load, cosy rooms with comfortable beds, hot water in the shower and a fridge.
Breakfast was superb - fresh fruit juice and fresh fruit. Bread and pancakes, yoghurt and tea/coffee. I was stuffed! Stupidly I only ate here one evening and was kicking myself I didn't eat there more - the food was delicious! the chef is outstanding.
Luis also helped book me into casa's for the rest of my trip and when I did manage to stay in the places he's recommended, they were excellent too.
Overall I would say that staying here improved my trip immensely because of the advice I was given for the onward journey and how welcome I was made feel. I can't wait to go back and hope to stay here again.

Casa 1932 and Casa 1940 are wonderful places to stay in Havana. We found this place at Tripadvisor and both houses, the facilities, and not least the friendly hosts and staff exceeded our expectations by far.
We arrived at Casa 1932 late an evening mid February 2012, as our plane arrived late from Toronto. We were greeted by Louis and his brother and shown around Casa 1932. They found out we were hungry, and within 10 minutes the cook had organized hot meet sandwiches and cold beers, despite the fact that he was just about to leave when we arrived. What a fantastic welcome to get after more than 24 hours en route from Denmark to Havana!
The house with its history and beautiful decor is a story of its own, amazing to be able to learn about four generations when studying the pictures and artifacts in the beautiful living/dining room. Our room, with bathroom ensuite, was spacious, clean and comfortable. It also had a safe; nice to be able to store travel documents there when exploring Havana. The room was cleaned daily and each day a new colour of towels, beautifully turned into Swans, were sitting on the bed.
The breakfast table was outstanding with freshly made fruit juice, eggs to suit your style, pancakes or cake, fresh fruit, toast and a wide selection of toppings and not least plenty of rich Cuban coffee with hot milk, served by very friendly staff in the beautiful living/dining room. All served on fine china, with silver plated cutlery, and fine glasses.
We enjoyed several evening meals at casa 1932, and one evening were able to invite friends over for dinner, and were given the dining room to ourselves. The meals were all excellent, no matter whether we choose lobster, pork og beef. And my cigar loving husband was treated to a fine Cuban cigar!

After four fantastic days we went out to explore other parts of Cuba. And when we returned after a 7 hour bus journey from Trinidad, we were greeted by Luis “welcome back to your home in Havana”. A minute later we sat in the living room being served a cold drink. Casa 1932 was full so we were booked into the other property Casa 1940 just around the corner, and Luis took us over to the house and introduced us to his aunt Maria and cousin Dory. We were given a whole apartment to our selves. There was a nice, homy and welcoming atmosphere, and the flat even had a balcony from which we could see the sea, the Malacon, and study the street life below us. Again a very high standard. We were amazed that both sheets and towels we changed daily. Dory and Maria served wonderful breakfast and cooked fantastic evening meals, we chose chicken and the Cuban national dish “Ropa Vieja”. And we thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with them. On our last day in Havana, they both got up very early as they wanted to give us a full breakfast at 04.30 a.m. before our departure and long journey back to Denmark.
It really felt like we were saying good buy to special friends and “not just” excellent hosts when we said goodbye to Luis, Dory and Maria. We are hopeful that one fine day we will return to Havana and will be sure to book early enough to be able to stay in Casa 1932 or Casa 1940! A fantastic experience of outstanding hospitality, it felt like a home away from home.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Casa 1932 is the most recommended and referred accommodation in all of Cuba. The house has been painstakingly restored back to the 1930`s era charm and character, and the decor is like stepping back in time. The house is affordable, comfortable, secure, and well located. The location is only 50 meters (150 feet) from the Havana seawall "Malecon Habanero". From this house it is only a short walk to all of Havana's most popular attractions; Malecon, the Prada, The Capitolio building, China town, shopping, restaurants, and nightclubs.Your host, Luis Miguel, speaks fluent English and loves to share Cuban culture with his guests. He is avid collector of antiques, a history buff, and a lover of architecture, design, and decor. This house stands above its competitors by offering authentic Cuban meals prepared by a personal chef, a full time driver on staff, a concierge, and full time cleaning staff. The property is meticulously maintained and operated, and was one of the first private Casa Particular properties in Havana, now with years of experience and satisfied customers. Casa 1932 is consistently top ranked by travel professionals and is currently recommended as #1 by most professional travel guides. As a result of our popularity, we regret that we are near 100% occupancy. Please contact us, should we be fully booked, we are happy to recommend other nearby options which we believe offer similar level of service. *As of 2015 we have been voted the #1 Casa for American Visitors who wish to see Authentic Cuba, experience history, and feel truly welcome. ... more   less
