We stayed for a week early June and had the most fabulous and relaxing holiday ever, the weather was perfect, the hotel was wonderful with beautiful surrounding gardens, peaceful, relaxing with superb food and drink and the staff and service were second to none. Great location close to lots of superb restaurants if you like to eat out , that said the food at the hotel was brilliant so if you didn't want to go out you certainly didn't need to. We will be back!

Room tip: We had a garden room which was lovely, compact and cosy, clean and very comfortable with good aircon.

We were sold 5 star but we did not feel we received this in many respects. Whilst the gardens and rooms were lovely well fitted and comfortable the hotel was let down by noisy air conditioning culminating in us having to change room. I had read about this on-line beforehand but thought it would have been fixed unfortunately the units are old and out of date. We requested a seaview room which we did not get, this was probably due to there being so few of them. The beach area is more cramped than we anticipated but maybe this was down to us not researching our choice well enough beforehand. That said the staff were friendly and attentive certainly Yvette Head of Housekeeping tried her best for us with regards to the air conditioning and came to check on us which I was very impressed with. The sorbet on the beach is a nice touch as is the water. There are excellent restaurants nearby.

Room tip: Not room 30

The test of an excellent holiday....would you go back and would you change anything? The answers are simple for the Sandpiper. Yes and no. We are already discussing our return visit and we would change a thing.

We were treated to the managers reception on our first evening and it was the perfect start. A wonderful cocktail reception and sumptuous buffet, with roast beef and lamb that would rival any of the London clubs. Breakfast was an amazing buffet of fresh fruits and traditional cooked breakfasts. Whilst on the beach we were treated to fresh water and at 11am we received a welcome sorbet. Dinner was excellent and certainly met the standards of any five star establishment.

Whilst we spent most of the time on the beach, there were two lovely swimming pools to retire to after too much sun. The beach staff were great and attentive, nothing was too much trouble and a constant flow of cocktails was maintained.

I particularly liked the hotels sailing boat, which I took out several times and my partner enjoyed the gym. It was also great having a tennis coach at 4 - 6 pm. Great opportunity to working the food and cocktails whilst meeting other guests.

I’ve noticed other reviews mention the lack of a minibar. Quite frankly who needs a minibar when you can dial reception and have your drinks sent to you - this isn’t a Holiday Inn. We took some duty free gin and every evening the bar staff made sure there was a bucket of ice for the perfect G&T. That’s the Sandpiper way.

All of this is great, but what really made our holiday was the team led by Russell. The staff at the Sandpiper were second to none. They were happy, friendly and really made our stay memorable. Nothing was too much trouble and always undertaken with a genuine smile.

I hope to see you all very soon at the Sandpiper.

This is an excellent hotel on the best coast of Barbados. Really well located, good accommodation, and great food.
For a hotel of this quality it was a real disappointment to see the best sun beds on the beach “reserved” by a book or a tub of sun cream, or a pair of flip flops, from very early in the morning. Rows and rows of sun beds with no one there! Come on management, sort this out.

I was in Barbados for 7 days and ate here three times - the food is delicious.

As the sister property to the Coral Reef Club the service was great - to the extent when we came back a third time the waiter we had knew all our drinks and had them on the table as we sat down. the Bajan Fit cakes were delicious and the Dry Rose a lovely tasty wine.

Gorgeous clean hotel - thoroughly enjoyed
