“FEB 2012 STAY AT CRYSTAL COVE BARBADOS”
Reviewed 25 February 2012

Hotel provides excellent facilities, superb service in the resturants, bar areas etc.
Ocean front room, was clean and looked fairly modern, flat screen TV, good bath/shower
provided in a spacious bathroom. Hotel generally in a good state, looks well kept.
Beach ecellent and loungers plenty in number and very comofortable. Provison of drinks
and fruit etc on the beach a really nice touch.
Staff very friendly throughout and in particular in the resturants. food quality very high.

Room Tip: Best to spend a little more money to get an ocean view room.

Just returned from a 10 day stay at Crystal Cove (5lbs heavier) & already on the internet looking to return. The hotel is smaller than we're used to but makes it so much more personal. We opted for a garden view room as we don't spend much time in our room and although we thought initially it was quite small, it was very adequate and clean and nicely decorated (and lots of the garden view rooms have a sea view anyway). The food was plentiful & a good selection for breakfast, lunch & dinner. However, sometimes I found the vegetarian options not so great in the evenings at Reflections (mainly pasta) only to be told on my last night that there was a special vegetarian menu which you can pre-order from (which looked very nice - just a shame I didn't get to sample anything). The buffet lunch in Drifters (and sometimes Reflections) was very good and very tempting. We ate at Turtle Beach a couple of nights just for a bit of variety (their Italian, Assiagos, was very good). Seeing their coast line & rough sea & sheer size of the hotel we were glad to be staying where we were. We went on a bus once to Turtle Beach which was an experience (but only $2 each) but opted for a taxi the second time! All of the staff at the hotel were amazing and couldn't do enough to help you and a big thank you to Kathy in Reflections in particular! The watersport guys were all great and there were plenty of available slots each day to try something new. We are not a big fan of "excursions" but decided to go to see the turtles on our last day and it was just an amazing experience (the turtles were so close & so big). Go to see Slick Rick on the beach if you fancy doing the trip as he was great with the turtles & made the trip loads of fun (even though the boat was a bit rickety)!! If you have tasty blood (like me) take plenty of tropical insect repellent as they seemed to be a big problem when we went (lots of the guests were complaining of bites). You can arrange to get your room sprayed morning & night which seemed to help a bit and they smoked out the grounds of the resort whilst we were there (they called it fogging) to try to help the situation. The 3 pools were very nice but despite the hotel saying it was a rule you cannot reserve sun beds, we found that as soon as the school holidays arrived, this became a problem and the sun beds were all reserved by 8am. They claim the gym is 'state of the art' which isn't entirely true but it is quite large for the size of the hotel and it does the job. All in all, had a thoroughly amazing time & wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to solos, couples & families.

Room Tip: The shower in 108 wasn't too powerful !!

Travelled the world and had many disappointments, despite prior assurances, and we had reservations about C.C. for that reason. Let me say then that from the moment of arrival we loved it. Without doubt one of the nicest places we have ever visited. What an exquisite design and absolutely the right size with just about 90 rooms

The Staff were universally helpful, the food and service impeccable the accommodation a delight. Bright lovely room with a delightful view to the sea, even though this was not one of the specified "seaview rooms". The grounds were beautifully kept, the beach very large and beach loungers always available. On that subject, being fair skinned, we loved the individual sun covers fitted to each chair to offer full or part protection from the sun just as one desired

We are neither great food or drink lovers so the " all inclusive" aspect was not a factor we considered but it just made life simple and free from worry. We are already planning a return this autumn and next winter all things permitting. Can I think of a dislike? er, No

Room Tip: Any one at Crystal Cove

Stayed at Crystal Cove with my husband in mid January for 7 nights to celebrate my birthday.

We had a lovely greeting when we arrived with a cool glass of rum punch. You don't really check-in, just get directed to the open air reception area while they organise your details and then walk through the beautiful grounds to your room.

We had upgraded to an oceanview room and it was absolutely worth it. We were on the edge of the resort, upstairs looking directly onto an uninterrupted view of the ocean. The only sound was of the small crashing waves. Pure heaven.

The food was first class. You often had Bajan specials at breakfast and these varied each day so you never got bored. For lunch, you could go to the outside beach bar which had a self service area. Alternatively, there was a 4 course table service in the main Reflections restaurant. They served afternoon tea at beach bar which was sandwiches, cakes, scones etc. At the beach bar you also had a soft drinks machine available along with tea and coffee and the bar was open for drinks from 10am all day too. Cave Bar was open all day too. For dinner, again you had choice of Reflections restaurant inside or beach bar. Sometimes you had special BBQs at beach bar, other nights it was a 4 course dinner. You had to reserve your table for dinner each day.

Fabulous cocktails available from both beach bar and Cave Bar. You also have a cocktail of the day to try!! I would highly recommend Mango Coladas. All included in the price.

The beach is amazing. The ocean is so clean and warm. Nicest beach ever. Throughout the day, staff come round with a variety of drinks to keep you cool as well as fruit in the morning and ice lollies in the afternoon.

The resort only has 88 rooms but has lots of grounds. Just perfect size for a relaxing week in the sun. This was our first stay in Barbados, will definitely be returning in the future and to Crystal Cove.

Room Tip: Book an oceanview room
