Went to Aruba for the first time in March 2017 with family. Searched and searched for just right place to stay. We found Marriott ocean club. Was very happy with hotel as we wanted a Brand name hotel in another country. Check in was little slow but no big deal. We got to our room and it was very clean, 2 bedroom suite (villa) style. Kitchen, small balcony even thought we were on first floor. Pools were clean, beach very close stones throw away. Restaurants we frequented were about 1/2 mile away. Walking distance. Walk beach side to approx Holiday inn area. We did walk street to Holiday Inn at first but was little iffy. Just road and construction going on street. Didnt find grocery store too close but not to say there isnt one. I would recommend using if staying more than week as eating out gets expensive. Anyways would recommend this hotel. We are booking our 2018 vacation now which is why review is almost a year to post. We are planning aruba again, however at this time rooms at this place are not available at all dates we need. We are struggling a little to find something that seems to meet what we had here. Beach, pools, hotel in general.

Stayed: March 2017

We stayed in a studio room on the 5th Floor of the Ocean Club. The room is average size with a small queen-sized bed. The economy kitchen offers the essentials like a small refrigerator, dishware, sink, microwave, coffee maker, etc. Ice maker can only be found on the first floor and the pool area (bring your room key to activate!). The Ocean Club room did NOT have a clothes washer/dryer and we had to use the one at the end of the hallway. Mornings can be a challenge as all machines were being used. The property is smaller than the Surf Club so everything is easier to reach. The pool area is nice but quiet. Entertainment (music) is lacking in the pool area and can be annoying with the constant talking by the entertainment staff (bingo was the exception!). The cabanas on the beach seem to be all empty yet reserving one is a challenge and can be quite expensive. We were frustrated with the cabana rental process. Food is decent in the pool area at The Eatery yet the area is frequently met with a horrific sewer odor coming from the bathroom area and permeates throughout the restaurant, pool bar and lounge chair areas.

Check in is 4:00 we get there at 1:00, I understand my room isn’t ready, but 5:00 and waiting, never come to this place again. We have to rent a space on the beach but they are full until we leave.
Please rebuild Saint Martin ASAP.
Again only a fool would come here twice.

If you leave here in a bad mood I don't know if there's any hope for ya! No place is perfect but this place is pretty damn close. Most everyone is pretty accommodating. Ample parking, close to lots of food options if for some reason you grow tired of all the restaurants on the Marriott property which includes the hotel, Surf Club and the Ritz Carlton hotel too!

If the beach feels a little crowded or that guy behind you insists on playing music on his Bluetooth speaker (yes this happens a lot recently) you could complain and hope they suddenly become considerate of their beach neighbors or you can hit another beach that's like 10 minutes away. Whatever shortcomings there are Marriott compensates with location. Love this place - except for the idiots with the loud speakers it's cool.

We stayed at the Marriott Ocean club in Aruba for a week in January. The resort was very well maintained and the pool area was beautiful with many lounge chairs and a jacuzzi. The condo was very spacious with a fully supplied kitchen which I really made use of all week. There was even a laundry room at the end of the hallway.
Our condo was on a low floor facing the next door hotel. We tried to get a better location but we understood that the hotel was completely booked.
The gym was new and had great machines overlooking the pool area .
The beach had palapas for shade and you must get up early to book one closer to the shore.
I'm not much of an easy riser on vacation so I found this very annoying. A better option would be to rent an umbrella from the jolly pirate stand near the shore for $40 . The lounges are free of charge .This way you sit right by the shore without having to stand on line at 7 am.
We ate at the Sands restaurant by the pool several times and were very happy with the food there. Happy hour was from 12-5 so plenty of time to get two for one drinks that were served right to our chairs.
As we were leaving my 12 year old son asked if we could return again next year, which is the best review a hotel could get!

Room Tip: ask for a room on a high floor closer to the beach
