We just got home from visiting this resort which is an RCI exchange which took us two years to get! This was our fourth visit to Aruba as it is our favorite island in the Caribbean. We stayed in a two bedroom presidential suite which was very comfortable and full kitchen. When we got there we could tell both bathrooms were not thoroughly cleaned so we contacted front office and immediately they sent housekeeping to address it with the manager. I can’t say enough about the staff how service oriented they are. Location is excellent, the grounds are kept very clean and the beach is amazing. Having said that there is a big issue with the mold in the unit. I stayed in 1113 and I can honestly say I have stayed in dated units in other countries and have never seen mold this bad. I bought a bottle of Clorox and poured it on the shower and I could see the improvement in a few tiles BUT this unit desperately needs mold resolution.

We are planning to return in a few years but if they don’t resolve the mold issue which other guests were also commenting on it we will not stay here.

Had it not been for the mold I would give this unit a 4 star for the all around experience.

Had a great vacation at Casa Del Mar. Suites are spacious and well equipped. Our kitchen had anything you could need. The resort is dated but they are starting to renovate. Staff is friendly and helpful. Beach is beautiful. There is a mini mart across the street along with some shops, restaurants, stores and a Dunkin Donuts! Also, in the same plaza is the Alhambra Casino. For the price it is a great deal.

Room Tip: Try to get a low floor near pool or beach view.

Overall, my husband and I had a great time. We traded our Starwood timeshare for this because we wanted to try something new. First I'll give an overview and then I'll go over some details that travelers should know ahead of time.
The resort has several amenities: 3 pools, 2 hot tubs, an exercise room, shops of all kinds, a business center (must pay to use their computer), many restaurants withing walking distance and poolside activities for adults and children. Our unit was a one bedroom, with a kitchen and a living room. If you want Internet in your room, it's $34.95 a week. The Superfoods grocery store was a $16.00 taxi ride round trip (really great store). The high rise area was $26.00 round trip (more shops and restaurants there). No need to exchange your money. They take American dollars but remember that currently, dollars are worth more so if the price is is florins, it should be much less in dollars.
Casa del Mar is very clean but not spotless. For example, our bath tub was old and needed to be replaced. It had permanent dirt smudges in it. I asked housekeeping to take a look; but their cleaning products did not remove the stains.
While we're on the subject of the bathroom, they do NOT supply shampoo. We asked for some at the front desk and they told us we can buy it at the gift shop but the cheapest bottle was $8.00. So, just a heads up... bring your own shampoo. Personally, I think they should keep travel sizes at the front desk for people who forget to bring their own.
If you like organized activities, bring money for pool activities such as Bingo - $1.00 a card if you want to play. And speaking of the pool, they typically play music the whole time, mostly calypso music (too loud for me) which wasn't really my type. Once in a while, they had live guitar music and a singer who was very pleasant. (we are 60 so that may explain our music tastes). There is also a hut at the pool that sells cold drinks, smoothies and milkshakes but they take cash only. (you can't charge it to your room either). The restaurant, Matthews, is also at the pool and it is wonderful.
There are raving reviews about Jean, who is the concierge at Casa Del Mar. She is very nice and knowledgeable; however, there are certain times of day when she is busier than others. We waited 45 minutes for her and when it was finally our turn, she was multitasking and waiting on other people at the same time. The customer service at Starwood is a lot better. Usually, there are more concierges than just one and the wait is shorter. Also we are used to a little bit more individualized attention than we got from Jean. Having said that, everything that Jean planned for us was good.
We went on two excursions planned by Jean -- a jeep tour and DePalm Island. If you want to go to this island, bring water shoes! There are sharp rocks in the water (on the sand) and there was only one tiny place on their very small beach where we could safely step into the water with our bare feet. We liked both tours but didn't take advantage of all the activities on DePalm island so it really wasn't worth the price for us.
Finally, don't get sticker shock when you check out. There will be a bill for an "Energy" cost for about $150.00. We have never received a bill like that when checking out. Who would have thought electricity wouldn't be included?
The resort staff was very responsive when we needed them for one thing or another. It's a very nice place to stay but it's not luxurious if that's what you're looking for. This is one of my longer reviews because I hope it will help people to decide if this is the right place for them, and if so, what to expect - especially in terms of extra costs.

As an independent time-share resort, where 90% of our guests are members of Casa del Mar, the amenities are certainly different than in a branded time-share resort, like Starwood. We love having exchange guests and strive to provide service equivalent to that at the larger, branded properties. As a former Starwood employee, I know that most amenities provided are included free of charge; if you were not made aware of this then I apologize. We will reach out to the exchange company to make sure that our services and amenities are clearly explained.

That being said, the majority of our exchange guests like the relaxed ambiance and family feel of Casa del Mar and many return year after year.

We hope that you decide to return to Casa del Mar on your next visit to Aruba.

Our room was great, exactly how it it described, the check in was simple and quick. The staff was very friendly, it is run extremely efficient ! The pool area, bar and restaurant were awesome. The market in the lobby was such a great added feature. Loved M’s, the ice cream and snack house at the pool, then there was the beach ... perfect ! Very satisfied with Casa Del Mar

Let me start by saying this is a sister's vacation, not our first time here! We stayed here 4 years ago! We had a long difficult flight and it was late when we checked in, there were issues with our room, most were minor, except the "mildew", it was beyond bad! We were too tired, we did our food shopping, ate and went to bed. Next morning we went to the desk, told them how bad it was (I actually needed my inhaler all night) they were upset we didn't go to the desk when we arrived. They sent maintenance right up. There were issues with the entire air conditioning system, not just in our room, but throughout that section of the floor. They replaced everything!!! We immediately noticed the difference! The head of the maintenance dept sought us out to make sure we were ok, and then they made daily checks on us, to the point we told them they didn't have to anymore, everything was great! I can't tell you how they went above and beyond.

The front desk, just as amazing, always asking when we walked by how we were. So friendly and always there to help with anything you need.

Great pool, 2 hot tubs; there was an issue with the beach when we were there, that is gone now! Wonderful restaurant, "Matthews", right on the beach!

You won't be disappointed in Casa Del Mar!!
